My guess is the battery box can't add much to the frame rigidity back there, it's even possible whatever it does add actually makes the frame break sooner (of course with he battery in it it's likely the weight of the battery on that fairly long lever arm is what breaks the frame).

I was thinking battery out of the box. Putting a frame support from the two holes where the battery holder went.

yup.....if someone could come up with a really high quality temp dipstick it`d sell well.

There is one on fleabay that is really decent quality........with an oil filled temp guage......but it`s in Celcuis...and most people want Farenheit...
I emailed them to see if they could get Farenheit ones and they said they would look into it.......it`s been a year,so i guess not

As for the XR`s Only one......if it fogs up just stick it in the oven at 230 or about 20 minutes........put something in front of the dial to catch the pieces though it`ll heat up the outer ring....and the internal pressure will force it apart when it gets loose enough......then reinstall the glass,seal,and outer ring,it just pushes together.........

I wish Vanpelt999 would get his low oil flow light mod up and selling.......i care more about oil flow than temperature....still think Honda should have put an oil light on these bikes..

COME ON DANNY.........you could sell these for a couple hundred bucks or so

Here`s what i`d like to see MIKE make..hint,hint...............

Instead of removing the battery box.........make/design a new one..that would hold the smaller battery towards the front,,,,,and make it also hold a really small air compressor for tire inflation in it too..you could actually make the box a little bigger out of alluminum to hold a battery,air comp,a spare tube and short tire levers.....

Or toss all that out and put the guts out of a 12v cooler in there and i could keep my beer cold in there

This is an easer way. Just drill OEM plug along side the stick:

is there any clear lines that we could put from the frame to the cover?

or an inline sender that can be put into the pressurized oil line? not sure what the requirememnts would be, maybe just the ID and CFM?
