I have liability-only insurance my XR650L through Allshaft Allstate for $40 a year.

I decided to modify my Xr650l. I went from this.....

to this.....

Yeah, that motor just got in the way.

I've got rides scheduled in a month so I gotta get the ball rollin! I sure hope I didn't convert this to a parts bike! Its getting the carb mods, a pipe, and obviously some motor work. once we see how the cylinder looks, I'm either going to just put in rings, or a higher comp piston.

Please, everyone.. say a prayer for me, I need all the help I can get!

...and FMF exhaust/slip-on. Do you like the exhaust? Which one is it? Did you put it on at the same time as the re-jetting? (I'm in exhaust-obsession/quandary mode.)

Cool tread, sweet bikes. I love mine. It's an 03 with some bolt-ons, some crap removed and the carb mods. It's fast, I gear it low. I commute everyday on it, have taken it to Canada, Mexico and all over AZ and Utah. Not a single issue in 10k miles, cept the speedo cable, but that's what all those wheelies do!

Hey, I've been wanting to do the continental divide ride myself, and its the reason I bought the XRL. I looked at your phot's before and they are great. I was just wondering, what tires did you run on the divide ride? ( looks like D606's ). You musta had 1000 miles on them tires befor you hit the actual ride. I was curious how they lasted.

I gots me an 05' that is still stock, except for some 606's. I've been thinking of ordering a full exhaust and carb from xr's only.

Question: What are you guys using for bars and handguards?? If you have after markets did you need some sort if adapter to use fatter bars on stock clamps?? Also where did you get your stuff from.

Is there any good replacement for the stock rear brake lever?? It is positioned too far inward and I would like it to be right in line with the foot peg like a proper dirt bike.

Thanks, it was alot of fun. I rode from AZ - MT on a D606 front/Kenda 760 rear that were both worthless already in the dirt. In Kalispell Montana we put a fresh set of MT21s on at Dirtrider's house, then went up to Banff and back down as far as Gunnison, CO - where we bought off-the-shelf 110 MX tires to finish and ride home on.

I don't know of any tire that will last the whole trip. My trip ended up being 5500-6000 miles. Oh, and I ride my bike WOT or closed throttle - rarely in between, so the tires were fairly abused. I cut three or four lugs off the MT21 rear...

I met alot of riders along the way and one group of them were running TKC80's. They had nursed them the whole way, riding VERY conservatively on KLR's and thought they would just make it to MEX. Then they shipped their bikes home.

I doubt anything too dirtworthy would last the entirety on an XRL if you were riding moderately aggressively.

Okay it's not a XRL650, but it is the little brother XR400.

Lights and frame are from the Honda Ruckus scotter.
Clear 3.8 gallon Clarke tank
SDG gripper seat
black rear fender
acerbis enduro real light
acrebis grey and black front fender.

By spring I should have it licensed for the road here in BC. Would have been much easier to get it done in Ontario before I moved.
