Russel seat.

Spitfire windshield.

Bar end weights by MANIC Salamande.

For longer trips I prefer my Langlitz leathers. They breath better than my Olympia phantom suit. Even when all the phantom's vents are open. I carry a Gerbing jacket liner for warmth. For extra insulation I'll carry the zip out liner from the phantom suit. It's worn over the jacket liner but under the leathers. For rain protection I use a sailing foul weather suit made by West Marine. It's much more durable and water proof than anything I have seen made for bikes. For cold weather I use some sheep skin lined mittens made by Langlitz. For warm weather I use elk skin work gloves.

Thanks for the tips and thank you very much for this picture, hopefully they sell this hardware separate from the wind screens, I like the detachable National cycle one a bit better, but the Spitfire hardware goes through the screen which will allow me to use it on my Cee Bailey's windscreen that I have been on and off trying to figure a way to mount.

Motion Pro Cables

I got a set of these cables and not only are they threaded on both ends (my OEM ones are smooth on the carb side) but the double wide tab (or whatever you call the thing at the end of the cable) is on the throttle side. I can probably file them down to fit but I was wondering if any of you guys had similar issues. I also checked the part numbers and they are correct on the Motion Pro site.

I just put a set on mine..Didn't notice anything that caused any issues (both throttlecables)

A while back someone posted up that they were looking for some passenger peg/brackets for the XRL and a few of you guys mentioned having some you could part with.

The XRL I recently picked up is also missing them and I would like to find a cheap set to throw on to take my gf for a ride now and again. If anyone has a set they could part with please shoot me a PM. Thank you.

The national cycles kit has a plate that bonds to the screen so no hardware goes through the screen, it looks good but I only trust glue so much, I'd rather have a bolt there.

Seat Concepts XR650L Seat

I gotta' apologize for putting up more pictures of the bike - I'm acting like a new father ("Hey - wanna' see some more baby pictures??? No, wait, these are really cool, he just messed his first diaper....)

That said, these actually show a Seat Concepts foam and gripper cover installed on an XR650L. Here's the foam side-by-side with a stock seat -

Here's the bike with the seat -

And here's the seat from the rear -

I installed it this morning using a Harbor Freight pneumatic stapler (item # 68209) that I picked up yesterday at the store, on sale, for $20. Normally I break out in hives whenever I pass Harbor Freight, but for $20 I had to give it a shot, and guess what, it worked just fine. It might even last long enough for me to insulate the garage as well.

Anyway I spent 2 hours this morning taking off the old cover and foam, gluing on the new foam and stapling on the cover. I did it in the driveway in the morning sun, which softened the cover without needing to resort to a heat gun or a steamer. Then I went for a test ride.

I headed east through Richmond, KY on KY 52 to the Daniel Boone National Forest for a toot down Kentucky 89 and then back via Kentucky 1955 to US421. Four and one half hours and 175 miles later I can tell you that the seat is way better than the stocker... no monkey butt. And to my eyes it looks much better than the original red thing which was not only uncomfortable but was damned ugly as well.

I am learning how to edit videos. Here is a video I shot the other day. I only have 1 camera so every angle is actually a separate ride then I put them all together. What do you think?

Today's your lucky day. I'm leaving for SF later this week so I'll throw the foam & cover in the back of the car. PM me with your telephone number so that I can reach you when I arrive.
