I don`t like your albino cooler........paint it black damsit

What the hell are those arms for? Am i missing a part of the rear rack that those arms go to.

My wild guess is those forward brackets are meant to be attached to your MIA rear peg brackets.

Here is mine.

Hey John, got a link for that cooler? Does it come with the mounting bracket like that? Almost looks like it was made for the XR.

"XR650L"- Regarding the sensor, I feel that same as you so I went with the below sensor from TrailTech.

Check my oil cooler link below in my signature and you'll see how I installed it. Basically got some brass fittings from my local hardware store and located the sensor setup right where the oil circulates from the engine into the top of the frame. I figured this would give an accurate engine oil temperature. reading.

I had pretty much the same question in a PM just now. Here's my reply:
Quote:
It's a junkyard special! I don't know if you remember when Kubiak had an L and went through several different junkyard coolers but that's where I got the idea. I went to Pull-A-Part and must have pulled six or seven different power steering and transmission coolers before I found this one on a early nineties Eldorado. I got six feet of hose with it too. It was 18 or so inches long and I cut it down with a dremel and ground the fins off about an inch of the tubes to attach the hoses. It didn't have sides so I took a couple pieces of 3/16" steel and my wire feed Miller and added them and the mount to the engine support bolts.

I was a little concerned about the location but wanted it out in the air. I've been all over Colorado and rode the TAT (in early August temps), Big Bend Texas, Moab and been down several times hard. Never leaked a drop. If it ever gets damaged I carry a short piece of pipe that I can splice the two hoses together and be on my way. It really helps with the temps and only fails to work when it gets full of mud. I think the worry about rocks and such damaging it is just internet chatter.
