No 650l. If it was for single track it would be too big. As its for commuting and gravel road running the docile 650 with a touch higher gearing than I would prefer makes it quite mild. She's quite capable of handling it.

Clark 4.8 gallon tank install with XR's Big Fins

Some i"m having some clearance issues with my install of the Clark 4.7 gallon tank with the XR's Big Fins. I've already bent the clutch bracket so the choke cable cleared the extra width of the Big Fins.

When I placed the tank on the frame, the clutch cable rubs against the head and binds under the tank.
What do you guys think about the fit? Should I install some foam to raise the tank? Do I need to order a longer clutch cable?

I believe that is your CLUTCH cable.

I would install the supports from the frame to the tank to get the tank spread back out, throw in some more foam under the tank and then see how your CLUTCH cable looks.

The XR600R CLUTCH cable is about 2 inches longer. It is What I use on my XR's big fin head and Acerbis tank.

I just ordered a 3" longer cable from Motion Pro as I had this exact same problem with my IMS tank and big fins. The 3" is a stock Motion Pro cable. Initially, CW told me to get a 4", but I mentioned Motion Pro stocks a 3"er. He said 3" would work fine as I don't have any risers or tall bars. It is perfect. That said, Motion Pro will make you anything you want. Here's the link:

I got my OEM cable to work just fine, had to play with the routing a little bit, but it worked out. I had to get "liberal" with adjustment of the cable bracket that attaches to the starter as well to make the cable go directly into the center of the housing to avoid rubbing and such.

What's really gonna piss you off is that when you put the fuel valve back on the tank it won't fit with the big fins. Ask me how I know....

What I did was cut the corner out of one of the fins and it fits fine now. If you want pics let me know.

I'm sorry I forgot what tank you had when I did the big fin head for you.

Absolutely, positively no problem at all. It was an easy fix.

Botom end racket at 4000 to 5000 rpm

Hi, what is this racket I hear now that I have a skid plate. I've been reading about counter balance gear noise from spur cut gears with excessive lash? The bike has 4500 miles and runs great but makes this racket kind of sounds hollow like clacking 2 spoons together in a carbboard box. Idle all I hear is valves ticking and normal idle sounds. Sounds great, valves are in perfect spec. I also hear this noise while engine braking in 2nd or 3rd gear mostly second probable cause I am going slower and there is less road/trail noise.

I've got the FCR
skidplate
IMS tank
Shorai battery reloaction
RSW triple clamp
Tusk hi bars
14/48 gearing going to try 14/50 when I wear this set out.
Uni filter
XR600 side plastics
XR600 rear fender
XR400 front fender
Kenda Trakmasters going to try Dunlop 606 next time.
XRs only chain guide and case guard
XRs only temp dipstick
FMF HI-Flo header and Q4 pipe
I get 38 MPG and weigh 230 sound about right?

That's about it, got an XR400 oil cooler getting rigged up right now, can't think of anything else to do to it now. Think I've done it all.

Any input on my bottom end noise would be great. Is it common? It's not that loud but you can hear it come on about 40 in 3rd gear. It gets more random if you rev it but it's still there.
