I also have a red one, no dents, less than 100 miles on it with both wings if you want that. Or anyone else for that matter. It's going in the dumpster Monday since last time I posted it up on here nobody was interested. Just pay shipping from 01863. My household goods and storage stuff have all left, and I leave very, very soon for Belgium. I don't think the tenants want to find a gas tank in the shed.

My tank is spoken for. Thanks! Glad it'll go to someone who can use it, rather than a dumpster.

Yeah, I was getting ready to do all of those anyway, already have all the parts I was just trying to get the last bit out of my rear tire. The chain, sprockets, and chain guide were all original equipment on my 2008, I had just adjusted the chain to its first "red" mark. It has 6200 miles on all of these, 5000 put on by me in the last 1.5 years

That's actually hand cart gulch road we were coming up.
That is rocky, Dang. & to drag a handcart through there back in the day.

The way the colors in the ground fade into each other like its melting is just bad ass, The masters brush.
Excellent photo skill to boot its hard to make something look near as epic as it does in person, thats just gotta be something else

There will likely be issues with fitment to the intake manifold and/or airbox boot. This is the reason for the post - stock, the XR has 42.5mm carb. Are different sizes of intakes available or do I have to 'craft' one?

There may be issues with the tank. Not sure yet.

Only one way to be sure... pull the seat and tank and get busy! - I am procrastinating... Its a new bike!

42mm is a big throat for a stock XRL though. A 41mm is probably overkill. I suspect that a 39 or 40 may well be a better idea for stock XRLs.

Thanks for the reply![/QUOTE]

According to CW these carbs are it for these bikes. You get a pumper and a CV. Really, the best of both worlds. I'm going to get a 42 or 45 for my 750 after I get met head done.

Here's the HSR45, it's real close on diameters. It needs adapters to make up the length mainly, I'm probably gonna get 1/4"~1/2" longer than the stock carb to ease installation and be more secure.

Meant to check what main they come with, but.. :fail

Looking forward to hearing how this works out with your CW motor, as I'll likely be headed that direction. You cannot beat a CV carb. when it comes to making the most linear torque curve.

in Dec 2011 I ordered off ebay a JE Piston advertised as the 10.5:1 piston Part number - 300275. Well it showed up and i installed it around Feb and 4500 miles later I payed the price for using the cheap shit oil from walmart and the consistency of the oil had broken up and was making knocking noises in my motor and eventually ruined my rings (my fault). i buy new ones off JEs website for a 10.5:1 piston. they show up and the oil ring is not thick enough on my piston. The part numbers match up so they sent the right ones, so what the hell did i do wrong? turns out i go back and look at my piston receipt i got from JE and it says my piston part number is (130682). well shit, this whole time Ive had an 11.25:1 piston in my 650. I learned 4 things here that i would like to share with the community.

1.) the JE 11.25:1 piston runs on high octane pump gas just fine (93, 91 octane) without requiring me to mix race gas
2.) the stock XR650L battery and starter has enough power to start the 650 with this piston in it without having to add a kick start
3.) Don't buy internal engine parts from ANYbody on ebay. ESPECIALLY pistons.
4.) Don't buy cheap shit oil from walmart unless you change it every 500 miles.

Thats when you go Ebay and file a claim. I would agree with most of this however.....

4.) The walmart oil thing. . . . . . . . . . . . . I use Rotella diesel oil in all my bikes. I buy it at walmart because its cheapest. I have use it for about 48,000 miles in my XR650L, 7,000 miles in my 1989 ZX10, 4,000 miles on my DRZ400, 11,000 miles on my 04 Ninja 250.. All with out ANY problems. I change the oil at 2-3K mile intervals.

As far as Ebay goes.... never had any dealings with motor parts, but I have gotten many parts off Ebay and never had an issue. I just triple check that the part pictured is what I'm buying, and what I need... exactly! I make sure the seller has a high rating, and if the picture doesn't match what I want or whats listed, I move on to someone else... or email the seller.

Thats just been my experience.
