Got my ass kicked this afternoon! Chasing a bunch of riders around in the woods who have a lot more skills on a bike than I do
35 miles, almost four hours. Snow, mud, rocky creek beds. WTF was I thinking?!

Fortunately that spirit of experimentation never found its way into other parts of my life (kind of hard to stay married it if did!)
so you merely put a blinker flasher in line in place of the little white resistor? any specific one or just a standard round 2 pole blinker flasher. i have a tray of those also.
i got mine wired up yesterday as well and work killer!

I've only had the XRL a couple weeks now... It wasn't too dirty but was probably due for a good cleaning nonetheless. I also cleaned out the airbox really well... Just wiped out the light grime/dust that had built up. Man what a difference! Breathes much better... Bye, bye snorkel!

Still waiting on my damn smog-off kit. UPS made an "exception" (corporate lingo for big damn error/mistake) in the delivery process... Been watching the tracking number a couple days now... It is inching closer but taking for damn ever.

Think I need to check the jetting after de-smogging it? So far it's running great... Doesn't seem lean or anything. Not sure of the bike's history in this department... It has a White Brothers pipe so I'm guessing the jetting has been adjusted/played with at some point.
OK....insert anti K&N advice here.....since no one else has. K&N breathes better because it has larger holes. Dirt goes to your piston easier. Look it up...More air=more dirt. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/airfilter/airtest1.htm

Get an XR600 air filter cage and a UNI or Twin Air oil/foam filter for the cage if you do not want to use the stock paper filter....perfect fit.

Can I get an AMEN?

PS: your stock airbox breathes better than the stock motor can with or without a pipe. The rush you feel is the noise from the intake.

Yep. I used a Blazer FL32 that I had in the toolbox. It works quite well. I had the grips on low all of my ride today. It's kind of funny when you stop, you can hear the flasher click, click, click.

do you think it will burn up the contacts or?
i guess most turn signal on a vehicle w/ all four blinkers on draws more watts then the grips?
i know the stock xrl bulbs draw like 26 watts each!

Hey, Red

I believe it. I watched your last video, and you were a super-hero just to keep up with them then. The snow is coming; let the little bikes/young guys go ahead, and save your body for next year.

You can always drink, right?

I ordered a pair of Hippo Hands based on your recommendations here. I will let you know what I think. How it works out.

Thanks for the info! I'd found some knock off heat trollers, but $50 is still kinda pricey to roll the dice on.

I had it all cleaned up and ready for the winter and then the call came... I buried it in a freakin rut today. Muddy as hell and about as deep as well you can see. Took three of us to get it going. My sidestand safety switch died on me this morning, so I had dick around getting it into neutral (with the engine in a rut) to start it and then get it back into gear. What a pain in the ass! Safeties are all getting by-passed SOON!
How's this for buried?!
