This is engine fogger. Spray into carb while cranking the engine.

With a steel gas tank I would fill and add stabilzer. Drain a plastic one.

Then we went for pizza and beer. Love this pic.

I almost had a similar thing happen climbing a sandy hill on my old '91 WR250. I made it to the top and after I turned to go back down, the bike stalled and wouldn't start until I got it in neutral. Then it would barely roll down the hill. When I got to the bottom, the chain was bow-string tight from sand. I managed to get it rolling and stopped about fifty yards down the trail where there was a stump I could lean the bike against. By then, the sand had worked itself out so I kept riding but headed home. Later on, the chain and sprockets got a good cleaning but I had no other issues. I also didn't try that hill climb again.

And has anyone used the Moose gasket? Good, bad, ugly? It would be nice to pay $5 instead of $30...
Just avoid Tusk gaskets from Rocky Mtn ATV. They are Chinese crap and leak badly. A total waste of time and money!

Happy Christmas....

To me .

Just found this deal on a "fresh" XRL too good to pass-up. It's like getting a second chance... I'm thrilled!

Thank you. I'll probably pick up the new o-ring from the honda shop for that oil tube.

I still might go OEM. Depends on if they have it in stock.

I'm all jolly. It even has the factory tool kit and owner's manual including lanyard cable extension to helmet lock. Hopefully I can flip my old bike soon enough to not feel the pain.

Question for the Clan

So like I've got this XRL motor that was in my old XR when I bought it. Low miles, but due to monkey service by PO, they broke the cam gear bolts and munched the top gear. So I changed the top gear, chain, guides and tensioners.

Engine develops a bit of a top-end rattle after a half hour or so of riding. I'm thinking when the oil gets up to temperature. My suspicions are worn rubber o-ring on right side cover causing low oil pressure (I didn't change this when I had it apart) or possibly the wrong spring under the pressed-on cam gear (things went flying in the garage when I pressed it off). Does anyone have an actual photograph of the cam decompressor springs (not parts drawing)? Engine seems to run good though.

Any thoughts?

Your fucking killing me. Now I have to break out the camera and take the cam apart.

Hold on, it'll be a while.

XR/XRL Cam Decompressor Assembly

The above picture shows the spring and roller at the 2' position incorrectly. The roller should be on the other end of the spring. It fell apart and I installed it incorrectly.

The above picture shows the correct orientation of the rollers and springs.
