What I was getting at was possible leakdown. If yours does leakdown youreadings will vary. Check it running, no leakdown.

Tell the dealer $5500 ,tax , tag & title included. Some dealers offer extended warrantys on used bikes also. Try including that first too. See where you get.

Pull out the dipstick while the engine is running. Wipe it off & stick it back in . Perfect reading , no leakdown.

CW did an oil sight tube on Wattner's bike, I copied the one my buddy put on his R. McMaster Carr clear teflon tubing.

As long as you check it the same way every time you should be fine. Seems that each bike is a little different as far as oil level goes.

a little over half a quart for me...from low to top. the oil level varies when in use., it pumps if you will.....you have to run say at least 15 minutes...or simply check after a long ride...around the block and back is not enough. ESPECIALLY when topping off why? because thats the best way to overfill it and waste oil anywhoo |

yes
EXCEPT the damn check valves(rubber plunger) in the oil pump drain more or less on our bikes, often called wet sumping...this leads people to take OTHERS advice about exact amounts... the problems with exact amounts is since each bike suffers more or less from this with wet sumping you might get too much oil in certain cases... so the advice is to develop a system that you are comfortabke with and do not deviate from checking the oil the same way every time... I only check after long rides, upright against a wall...if for example before a ride Im at the halfaway mark I dont even bother adding oil for the reasons stated above. cheers |
