I use a lightened xr600 fww on my hybrid xr628 motor. Yes lightened xr600 fww. No stalling and bike revs up very quickly. (Fcr41mm mx carb helps here too)

I learned two things today:

1. My legs are just a wee bit too short for a stock height XRL. (barely on tip-toes with stock link and forks level with top triples)

2. The previous owner definitely shortened the side-stand when he put in the lowering link.

Needless to say, I re-installed my White Bros lowering link and moved the forks back up in the triples after that experiment.

Count me in as one who is interested in one of those fairings. It looks just like what I have been looking for!

My bolt fit nicely in one of the fins of the rotor - on my XRR.

I lost a magnet which was in the brake disk. This is not an isolated case.
Bolt with magnet stronger than insert a locking collar.

I just want to point out that shaving weight off of the flywheel also means shaving weight from the bike!!
('cuz all I ever seem to do is add weight to mine )

I can get both of my toes on the ground, even in sneakers, boots I get about half my foot even when the tank is almost on reserve (I'm 5'11"). When its full I can nearly flat foot with boots. When riding around town, I just put my right leg down and keep my left on the peg so I can shift into 1st from neutral when the light turns green. Yes, the bike leans a little but it won't fall over.

Your kickstand could easily be lengthened by a competent welder.

I'll be glad to donate case gaskets to the project if you need them.
If you are worried about the lightened flywheel comming apart in the engine, test it by spinning in the lath at 7200 rpm or so.
