Here's Clifford, the big red dog, in the forest of North Carolina. He has a K&N filter and a DG skiplate.

I'm saving the pic and thinking I might get a black IMS and paint my plastics... BTW, what front fender is that? and what paint did you use on the sidecovers? does it hold up pretty well? thanks, Bill

Any of you XRL'ers have big miles on your bikes? The XRL was a very close 2nd to the DR. I think it's a better bike offroad and if there are mods that enhance the engine longevity, I could see myself on one down the road...I'm a sucka for big thumpa's...

It's a Maier Xrl front and a XR600 rear. Been using a lacquer flat black on the panels, just every once in a while I'll take them off and paint them. It holds up the best so far. I don't feel like relocating the battery and going w/ xr600 sides. I need to change out the front, may go with a Yz,crf, ktm. I need to find one that bolts up, I've seen YZ and CRF's used.
I ride with this dude and we tend to freak people out with the color ![]() Thanks Quote:

I love this bike and have always wanted one, but I've always been afraid to commit. I'm afraid I'll be disappointed by the power. It weighs more than my KLX400SR and has about the same power.
The XR650R and the KTM LC4 are very attractive, but there is something in the L model that does it for me, mabey its simplicity. The KLX400 is a nice bike, but It's a bit short legged for the longer stretches. I am looking for a dirt oriented bike so the KLR and the DR are out. Any opinions? Thanx Dan

exhaust tape
I've been wanting to try exhaust tape on my XRL's pipe in an effort to reduce oil temp, cover rust spots and reduce pant leg burn. Does anyone(Brutus61, Treadmarks) have any feedback? Does it look like crap after it gets muddy?
