+1 on the Dirt bagz, My brother and I both bought a set. one of his zipper pulls came off on our first ride. He called Dirt Bagz up and asked if they could send him one to replace the one that came off. They sent four pulls. They really stand by their product.

How well does the Givi do on the back of the XR?

Been thinking about trying that b/c I have an extra Givi mount so I could swap the Givi from the ST to the XR. Just wasn't sure about how well it'd take the vibes of rough travel.

It's actually one of the famous JC Whitney top boxes actualliy (I have a Givi on my ST actually). I had an extra mount for my Givi and I was going to do exactly what you are thinking but then I read the JC Whitney thread and I figured I try it instead of trashing the Givi. That said, it's held up just fine and I am sure the Givi would be fine also.

Touring..... On an XRL..... I am a bit curious as to who does huge miles in a day?

I know a couple guys do it, but I wouldn't mind knowing how much? What speed for how long is too much with a 14t sprocket?

Here are the pick of my stock cut down fender. @4 off the rear and front. The rear I used a jigsaw with a plastic blade. It did not cut clean so I used a utility knife with a new blade on the front and it came out much better.

Sorry I don't have any temp figures for you. I cut the rear to where the head fins stop and the front to where it looks correct for the bike. Overall the air has a straight shot to the engine now.

I picked this machine up in May with 3,000 miles on the clock and went to work on the mods listed above. I just got back from a week long ride in and around Ouray, Colorado. The bike performed flawlessly (even when I didn't).

Hey !

If you have the XR's Only engine drain plug watch out, Mine broke off in the motor. I did not over tighten it!!! Looks like it was a manufactor's default.

I'll get some pictures up after I talk with XR's Only on Monday.
