We bought them ourselves because the department is too cheap to buy them for us. The DRZ400 is designed to be ridden about 75% off road and 25% on road. We ride them the exact opposite. The stock seat is painful after about an hour. We ride these bikes for 8 hours... anything helps. Best way I can describe it is - "a 2x4 with a wash cloth on it".

After many heated discussions with our supervisors, they finally gave in and are putting blue lights/siren on these bikes. Also, since GIVI North America HQ's is in Charlotte, we're getting a box/trunk on the rear. None of us are looking forward to the DNC. It's going to be about the closest thing to hell on earth that I can think of. We are planning for 300 to 500 arrests per day.

If having urine and feces thrown on you sounds like a good time, come on over to Charlotte in September...we need all the help we can get. If you're an able bodied good guy or gal and can hold a riot baton, come on and help us introduce these domestic terrorists to "the hickory Jesus"

Sure, it counts. Hopefully he/she was nice... note to the officer, poor tactical parking on the stop.
Exactly opposite from how it should be. Just sayin...

Been there with rocks and bottles not the urine and feces. It has been about 13 years since I was. Sometimes I would like to get back in there, but my better sense says let the young ones handle it.
Be safe.

Indeed. My plan is to have a fellow passenger with a pepper ball machine gun and a big ass lead pipe and simply ride around and clip these booger eaters in the face with the pipe or light em up with the pepper balls !

You in?

BTW just in case some, uh, "executive staff" happen to be on ADVrider, JUST KIDDING !!!

The DRZ is ok for an hour or so. After that, it's brutal. It makes a poor road police bike. They do come in handy for getting to places that we couldn't before. The first week in use, I found a missing child on one of our greenways. His parents thougt these bikes were the greatest idea they'd ever heard of. I'm hoping that when the DNC (Do Not Come) is over, the department might faze them out and I'm going to try and buy mine. Then I can farkle the hell out of it and turn it into a decent ADV ride.

Never been pulled over by this guy but thought it was to cool not to post.

Website says he's US Secret Service working at a Embassy in Argentina.
