Ron, just ride it. I'm one of the few that had a problem. I figured since I bought it new, it was worth it to me to replace the crank. I estimate I put in under $1000 into the engine to get it to where it is. Nearly 10K miles later, still running fine. Does the Ulysses have teething problems? Sure, but most of mine were fixed under warranty at the time or by preventative maintenance. It's still a lot of fun for me to ride it and would not go back to the Weestrom. I also don't see one every block.

As for tires, just bought a set of Continental Motions for $172 delivered from ebay. I think I'm on my 5th or 6th set of tires, so it does add up quickly.

Nothing appears to be wrong. Got it towed to the shop for analysis.

Check the grounds, known for loosening up.

A failed battery (internal short) will also do that.

My KLR did that. Did some head scratching before I figured it out.

You need the rubber grommets that go in the holes in the flyscreen. That's really all there is to it, pop 'em in (wet 'em first).

Got out this weekend !

A fellow inmate got a new to him, Yamaha FZ1 and we went went for a little ride.

It was not without a few setbacks, like packing up camp in pouring rain.

But it all got better

The windshield is a Slipstreamer Hellfire SS-24V

http://www.slipstreamer.com/Product/Sport/sport.html

I have modified it to work with a set of Palmer Brackets, It needed just a little trimming in a few places to fit properly

To get the correct angle on the shield I needed to put the lower mounting points behind the Palmer Bracket and the top screws are on the outside of the Palmer Bracket

I made some bushings out of rubber and used that to allow the Hellfire mounts to attach to the crossbar. This eliminates most of the low RPM vibration.
One mistake I made was to cut the side tabs down in length, i should have left them long, You can see in this picture the part that needs the clearance

It works great and I have no buffeting, very smooth air behind the screen

Hog Rider,

I also noticed your windshield cracking around on the lower mounting hole of the palmer brackets. My windshiled also cracked around the same place.
