+1, that golden brown water sheeting over the front of the bike is awesome. Magnificent lighting!!

How deep is too deep?

I'm super lucky to live in an area with great trail riding on my front doorstep. Riding from home is and onto the trail in 60 seconds is very lucky.
One my favorite summer tails is the Macetown Road/Track. It's actually an old horse and wagon track used in the gold mining years circa 1860's. As the road crosses the Arrow River some 20 times before reaching Macetown it means that only fully capable four-wheel-drive vehicles and fully capable bikes can complete this route.

So anyway, one day I decided to scout a new route back from Macetown and found more than a few deep pools I had to get through. My buddy was on his Suzuki Dr250 with a gnarly knobby set Dunlop 606 treads and I had a new set of Pirelli Scorpions on the bike. Let's just say the knobby tires work better in deep soft silt.

This is how deep.

It wouldn't be fair not to show the outcome of the attempted river crossing.
I knew as soon as it was bogged down by the weights of the water and the soft sandy bottom that there was no hope of riding it out so I hit the kill switch before bad turned to worse.

Once I was out of the water the little beauty started right back up again now worries. A bit soggy but hell that was a fun day.
