Sounds like an Oregon rental place I've spoken with a number of times, although I haven't spoken with them in the past six months or so. They sell (insert European performance bike), but praise the Suzuki as the best for rentals. They aren't a Suzuki dealership, and last I heard they didn't rent (m)any Suzukis, but when discussing what makes sense as a rental is was the DR650. It's my understanding as a European dealership it looked bad to have Suzukis as their rental fleet but in casual conversation they said the Suzukis just keep going, bulletproof.

The metal spacer looks like the stock spacer, and the springs look like stock springs.

I decided it would be much quicker to just ask. Im wondering if anyone has a good source for engine parts for the 95' other than a local shop.

How much would any of you expect to pay an independent (not stealership) shop to perform the factory lowering procedure? By the book, not the shortcut method. I just would like to go in with some sort of general number.

I have a bit over 1.5k on the ol' DR and I have found that my confidence on the bike isn't what I expected. All the other bikes I have owned had considerably shorter saddle height, I already have the "low" seat, hopefully this will do it.

Unless they are really familiar with the DR I would expect them to charge you a couple of hours labor. Maybe $150 or so at the most.
My bigger concern would be to make sure they have the manual and know that is how you want it done. You would be surprised how many dealers are not even aware of the proper procedure.

When I first bought mine I was looking into getting a price from them as part of the deal, and they insisted it wasn't possible. I finally had them drag a manual out to convince them. I didn't have them do it.

I think you could figure on about 2 hours of labor (+ fork oil) just to lower the forks and almost another hour to do the shock. You'll also need the shorter side stand ($55). I'm guessing closer to $225-$250 for everything.

I have a manual and a killer set of tools. Ride out to my place some weekend and I'll do it for a pizza or two.
