Watch those gill plates, GS- you're about to cut your thumb wide open! Those boys have razors right there- check it out sometime. Here's one I guided a client to a couple of years back... before the Bull shark showed up!~

This is getting perilously close to "Show us your man in the boat pictures!"

Somebody's gonna get banned.

My 15 foot Rob Roy made in Minnesota by Bell Canoe. Weighs about 45 pounds and is made of a Kevlar/fiberglass combination. I've been paddling for nearly 40 years and this is the most enjoyable paddler I've owned.

That's a cool looking design. Can you post some pics of the seating and interior???

I spent Christmas weekend paddling the Neuse River/Pamlico Sound area. Christmas Eve day went from Cherry Branch to Oriental to Great Neck Point and the following tuesday just played in the surf off Great Neck. My brother recently bought an Old Town Adventure XL139 so it was fun to try out a new boat. He was using his time tested Old Town Loon which has seen many miles on the eastern shore of North America.

Yup, I like kayaking.

Would a boat like that Old Town Adv 139 be a good boat for extended river touring? For example I have always wanted to put in across the street from my house and go 100 miles or so to the coast. It is mainly flat moving water, with some Class 1 and 2, maybe 3 in a few spots that could be avoided.
Lot's of slow sections, so I would not want to be in a short boat. Also not interested in white water, just exploring some of our more tame rivers, but I am thinking a Sea Kayak would not be good either as I would never be in the ocean. So these mid length boats sound interesting.

Rob Roy seen from the stern with the REI back pad removed. Seating is simple but quite comfortable. I've been getting ready to install a sail rig and like the one in the Raid photos. When this photo was taken I just finished glassing in a rib to act as mast step.
