Nice discussion...

However, there are NO misktake here ... just facts

a) as Iìve previously stated, the above CAGIVA "Dakar" is not an original Azzalin (the owner said me he had adapted the rear tank and the Tecnosel seat he bought in the 1998 from a Dakar pilot)
b) the term MARATHON is referring to a Category "invented" since the late 80's in which it was possible to run the Dakar with bikes derived from stock and adapted to the race. (BTW Honda has produced several version of the African Twin Marathon)
c) Mr. Azzalin (owner of the italian CH Racing team ) in the 1994 has realized a special version of the Elefant 900 i.e Marathon, where the peculiarities are: bigbore (944 cc), Keihin carbs, longest swingarm, special forks and so on..
d) the Lucky Explorer stickers, as well as the Marathon and EL CAMPERO ones, are the OEM stickers for both the 750 and the 900 replicas, produced respectively in 1994 and 1992.

Cheers,
SAM

I have many pics of authentic Cagiva 900 Marathons (Arcarons, Gallardo ...), but there is none of them with the Marathon sticker.
The only ones I saw with that sticker are REGULAR Cagiva 900s.
By DIY I meant maybe a sticker bought and added afterwards.

Do Elefants like snow?

Mine does. It likes it so much it wanted to lay down in it, twice. We got about 7 inches of snow today and I took the old Elefant out for a spin. I figured out that without a knobby on the front end, it washes out really easy.

I had not ridden in the snow for 23 years and that was a 1984 Honda XL250R. I had to kick that thing about 50 times to get it started (I was in a lot better shape then). Once I got it started it sure was fun. The 250 sure was a lot lighter and easier to ride in the snow.

Anyone have an electric start 250 they want to trade for an 1987 650 Elefant??

Here are some pics:

BTW, does anybody know where I can get this kind of Dakar Number Sticker, both have on the wind screen?

it's just the rear part and the exhaust that are coming from CHR
the sumpguard is not an azzalin one
the CHR did not prepared IE bike to dakar
the front original fork is a 900 ie original, never used by CHR, wich used 45 or 50 mm marzo
the azza preparation did not integrated the standard handlebars commands,
..
so.
6000 euros for both is a right fair price

if someone looks for an Azzalin (Model SP) that is in good state, I know one for 8500 euros (price to be discussed)
here a pic :

I don't think outside photo linking is allowed, or I would add the image.

Very sweet indeed. I am thinking of making a HyperMotard style tank to fit my Gran Canyon and it would probably fit the Elefant too. Scratching around the streets on a HyperCanyon is very appealing to me!

Here she is..I have had her about 1.5 years and have gone through everything. Finally I have a beautifull running duck. Now all I have to do is wait for summer or not.
