Is this the thread for heffalump sightings? I just saw one in my kitchen. Hang on...

Yes, it's still there

It's a very nice red heffalump. It's not a aventure but it is a aventure heffalump. I will have pictures tomorrow!

Pissed Suspension Bearings

While rebuilding my wheels with new spokes, I decided to check into the play on the rear suspension, turns out to be the top shock mount bolt is too small. Then I decided it's good practice to re-grease all bearings in suspension that you can usually get at. Well, here is a pick of the Y-yoke inner race sleeve for the bearings. It's cracked !!! Also notice the rust !!! This is a good example of winter maintenance.

Any Ideas on getting a replacement for one of these. I have some ideas and want to see if anyone else has seen this before.

I also want to find out if anyone has dismantled the shock to check shim stacks and replace the oil?? I need to know nitrogen pressure if anyone knows the specs for that.

I just looked in my manual and there is no listing of what pressure the nitrogen should be at. There is a sticker on the frame juast behind the tank that lists the pressure but mine is unreadable. If anyone else can check theirs, let us know what presssure to use.

Good luck on the race sleeve. You might want to try Letko in Kansas.

I do have some thoughts on the suspension sleeve. I found a part on the Kawasaki Mule that has a suspension sleeve with similar dimensions, I will just have it cut down to the right length on my machinists lathe.

I would however like to know what that pressure is for the shock. If anyone out there has an idea, I need to know. I am looking into rebuilding the rear shock so that in the future I can do other elefant riders rear shocks as well. I would also like to know what kind of rear shock it is, who made that crazy thing !!!

What part number Stuntman. I can't find anything on the Sachs-Boge website. If anyone has found any links to any info, PM them to me. I just want to find out what's in there before I take it apart for a rebuild and oil change.
