Don't be intimidated bud. It's not rocket science. Edit: Note that the center stand as well as the engine dresser / crash bars more than likely will not be compatible with the Zard 2-1 exhaust. Do your homework before you buy. Steve Steve SA screwed with this post 08-10-2012 at 09:23 AM |

Hi prince!
I installed the 2 into 1 crosspipe Zard. You may have noticed that it didn't come with instructions. When I called the vendor who sold me the unit and asked for an instruction sheet, he just laughed and said, "Those Italians!". Let me know if you got a crosspipe Zard unit (there are other low pipe Zard exhausts) and I can talk you through it. It's not difficult to install, but I will help in an way I can. |

Just hours away from taking the scrambler on her first longish highway run to Angola Indiana for a long weekend! 180 miles should be fun!

Hey gang great thread.
I took my Scram on a 16 day 7000 mile trip down to North Rim. Did as much off roading as I could. The White Rim trail was a high point. Hit snow in the Boise National Forest, the Sawtooth and Yellowstone. Bike ran like a champ giving me a consistent 58mpg fully loaded. ![]() Can't wait till next year's ride: Alaska. Yeah, It is such a good play on words I thought about keeping it, but I am blind in on eye from about 5 years old, and it is an old nickname. Plus I can hear from both eyes as well as anyone.

Zard Chirp
Anyone have a constant "chirp" coming from their Zard Cross Pipe? I saw this referenced someplace and can't find it. The noise is getting annoying..............after 400 mile "break-in" I thought it may go away but no such luck. Everything is tight, no leaks, it's coming out of the muffler itself, and when baffle is removed it just takes on a deeper tone.

TEC rear shocks
Fitted a pair of TEC rear shocks tonite, they feel ok but yet to ride it. They are much softer but are still on the softest setting & the black springs look so much better, best of all they were only $65 aus & I read they were better than stock, can always swap onto the Thruxton if need be.
Cheers Terry

You'll have a different exhaust once you've removed it! Hope this helps.

Jetting: The jets (pre 2009 models) in the carburetor may need to be changed when fitting a free flowing exhaust (and air cleaner). If you have a fuel injected model, your dealer can change for 'mapping' for you. The concern would be running the motor too 'lean' (too much air) and causing damage. If you want to fit the pipe yourself I'd say go for it, but then just go to your dealer to check the jetting / mapping for you. If you have a dealer near you, I'm sure they'd fit the Zard for you. If not, or you want to do it yourself I'd be happy to email you detailed instructions with pictures. Cheers, Steve. |

Thanks Steve,
"Does the "chirp" which you're referring to sound like a 1964 VW Beetle? Almost like a whistle?" This is EXACTLY what the noise sounds like...............funny, I was riding the bike yesterday trying to pinpoint where I'd heard that exhaust noise before and you nailed it! The offending bar is coming out tonight. Thanks again for the help, Colby |
