So what are the Scrambler mirror stalks made of, compressed rust? I got my bike in Sept. got caught in rain (turned to snow) once in Oct. and didn't get to wash it because the temp did not get back above freezing. I put it in the camper and hauled it down to the Keys in Dec, felt guilty about seeing rust on them Sunday so I removed them, polished it off and applied 3 coats of wax. On Wed. they were already rusting again! I am sure that I can find replacements that weigh half as much and look OK but the OEM ones aren't much for (chrome) durability.

On a more fun topic my high beam indicator has been "intermittent" of late. A good incentive to check out the LED "upgrade" as I see it!

Things age at various speeds. My eyes have started to give me the shits, (can't read topography maps very well these days, even got a magnifying glass hanging round for company)

Just to help your decision, I replaced mine before they went rusty with some of these http://www.touratech.com/shops/008/p...oducts_id=9474 They work really well and, if you remember to fold them in before the tricky bits, survive a crash. However, the stems on these have gone rust coloured as well. Made it Italy, might explain it.

Similar to blacktiger but not quite, I got the KTM folding mirrors from a vendor here at ADV. Much lighter, they fold up and give me a good view behind.

It seems that the two big threads are the Transalp, V-Strom picture thread and Scrambler threads but the Scrambler thread was started in April 2006, both of the others in 2004 and 2005 so they have a handy head start! Seems to me that the humble Scrambler, so often overlooked by "those in the know" has the wood on the rest. The other notible thread to make over a million views in recent times is the original F800GS/F650GS thread which contains a lot of speculation and monkey spanking over the then yet to be released models but is now buried back on page 7.

Ah, yes but while we have everything scrambler in one thread they have a thread for each and every part (i.e. problem) of the bike. I don't know which would be more challenging, finding something specific in "our" thread or trying to search all of theirs?
