Steve be carefull about the carbon fiber idea. I wanted to do something similar with C.F. and was warned by a seasoned rally rider that C.F. is like a knife. Fairing / knife / head - knife / fairing / head... get it.

turn signals, uncorking, and an Acerbis tank are about the only mods so far.

I came to this from a KLR. It feels like it weighs half as much and has twice the power!

I have a Scott's damper / triple clamp combo, protaper contour handlebars, and cycra handguards to put on this weekend

anybody interested in a very new set of Fastway handguards and 7/8ths protaper handlebars????

Sorry it's not a 650,but here in the UK ,there are not many place's to get the best out of the 650.So i went for the XR400.which is also a great bike.I have had a few XR's over the year's and They suit my needs for off road ability and they can also carry a good amount of kit needed for Long ride's in Spain and Morocco.

Here is a photo taken in Scotland in September.

that must be a different XR400 than what is sold in the states!
ours have not lights, and a floppy rear fender that will not hold diddly

Here is my 2000 XR650R. Found it last year with 80km on the clock
"road gearing/sprockets", öhlins shock, rack-it, acerbis sahara/cyclope, sheep-mod, tkc80s, oxford sport luggage, drybag on top with tent and sleeping bag inside.

quick Question JoHS i have a set of saddle bags very simular to those, i keep setting them on the bike and looking, how are you keeping them from flapping around. mine have nothing to attach to on the bottom
