as I understand it you need a VooDoo bone and a three legged monkey.

I have two brothers one in Ohio and one in Fla, I had both look into options to plate my XR650 OHio is a slam dunk, Fla is very dependant on wether the lady at DMV will enforce the rule that says no-way.

I have read a thread on here of a guy that did it in Fla but I did not bookmark it.

Just thought I'd add mine to the list. Pretty standard build up, baja DS kit, 16:46 gearing, acerbis sahara tank, un-restricted, subframe extension and rack.

Here's a shot all loaded up with 60lbs of gear at the summit of Roger's Pass, BC

And one last one of the reason to put up with a "small bike" on the highway...

This is a great thread, lots of nice bikes. My wallet says I've got enough ideas already though. I've been reading stuff on the sight for a while now and thought I wold chime in. I have an 01 with a BD kit. Other than that and uncorking, its pretty much stock. My clarke tank and moose racing skid plate should be here tomorrow. I'll take some pics when I get them on.

the CRFX headlight looks great on your bike

Here's my rally fairing updated with new paint. MUCH better than the Blue gel coat.

That fairing is so sick. Have you set a price yet? As for my bike it's actually a Polisport rip off of the CRFx headlight. Much cheaper and I still get that OEM look.

Hey Drop: how did you wire the XRL speedo into you bike? I've been thinking of doing the same thing. Do you have it backlit? Straight hook-up to the stock ODO drive cable?? Any close up pics?

Yeah, it's completely lit using what looks like a XR650L wiring harness. It's a nice OEM looking speedo with highbeam and turnsignal lights. It mounts to the front of the top triple clamp. The installation was done for the previous owner by the dealer when the bike was new. I'll try to take some close up pics for you but I'm not an expert on how it's wired. It is a straight hook-up to the stock ODO cable as far as I can tell.

Very well built fairing, looks totally pro now that it's done. It's just - well - I don't like the way the bike looks with that thing on there. I'm sure others may go for this modern dakar look, but think for now I prefer my bike pretty naked (I drop it far too often to dare to put something like that on the front anyway).

really cool forks, though :-)

It's all about Dakar dreaming. some are into it and some aren't don't think I would want the fairing in tight trails but when riding out in the western desert and highways. it work well for it's built purpose.

I like the USD forks conversion. Made the bike handle better throw the fast rough stuff.. I kept on blowing seals on the oems but haven't yet on these.
Not as plush as stock but handle the big bumps much better.

I put one on from my 71' SL100, bolted right up, runs about 10% slow gps checked. the SL runs a 19" front wheel so theres the diff.

anyways, if a speedo from a 36 yr old 100cc will fit you gotta think most of the models would too. makes it easier t find the deal .

You mother f'ers! I've got to pay off my credit cards and buy a new street bike this week (or next) and you tempt me with pics of your rides. I curse all of you........and need to find a larger black tank like the one pictured above (IMS, Clark or??). You guys have some great rides. I feel so inadequate with my largely stock XR650R.
