let me add to your frustration

Ganshert, damn nice steering setup you have on your XR man, one of the nicest I have seen (fatbars, steering stabilizer and full length bark buster clamps, wahooo). Very clean
Nice rims too!

Of course... you know I'd like it. just a little more hours with the fit and trim and your "alien" rally fairing would look awesome.

I'll post pics soon.
I feel the same way but took a longer route. Started with a DR650 moved to DL650 wanted more dirt so KLR650 wanted more highway R1100GS now 06 650R. Way more fun in the dirt and loaded to the hilt from the PO even has an electric starter .

I cut right to the chase, 2 yrs ago I got the kids a PW-80 after breaking two ribs and a tailbone on that the local shop guy convinced my wife to let me get a bigger bike, after carefull study and watching "From dust to glory" In June of last year, I got an XR650R and built it up for a DS street bike, so far no tag but will solve that issue when I can get bike up to Ohio to my brothers. I would say I have been bitten by the bug,, and love it.

Well I never did get around to taking any pics of my 01 so here are a few of my new 06. It came out of the crate at the dealership on wednesday and today was pretty much the first ride with it. It has a clarke 4.3 tank, moose racing skid plate, cycra bark busters and some decent bars. It will be uncorked as soon as the jets show up and then I have a pro circuit T4 full system to go on at the same time. I'm sure its not really legal, but I got it plated without anyone noticing that the title says "not for road use". As long as the vin matches the plate you're golden. One of the reasons I love Canada

[QUOTE=Zapp22]one thing [of many!] I do not understand is the vast diff between my properly-jetted DRZ/FCR vs. my XRR.... the XRR starts with no messing around with throttle [in fact its a no-no....] and its "not a pumper". The DRZ's FCR is a pumper but it can be a b#!@@$ to start. Different ritual.... gotta "pump" the throttle about 10 times first, then hit the magic button, then DON'T touch the throttle when it fires, you just cross your fingers and hope it stays. most times it dies about half a dozen times [it runs outta fuel.... how ?] frustrating to say the least.

Reply::::Had an XR600 that was hard starting for a year . Someone said turn the mixture screw 1/8 of a turn ( either way , in or out )( if no improve then try the other way ) and see if it gets better . So that 1/8 turn made the bike a " one kick wonder " . I suspect the above DRZ is too lean in the Idle circuit . Probably needs 1/4 turn out on the fuel screw . Proper air to fuel ratio (what is it ? 14:1) has to be close to provide explosion potential . i.e. Idle circuit has to supply correct mixture !
