Does anyone have a source for a Dakar style low front fender?

Hey there,

have you ever seen the ones made by Acerbis?
Here an example of the one on our Yamaha TT600R. Available in black or white including mounting material.

Made to fit only on 'standard' telescopic forks as shown. So they'll fit the XR650R, unless of course if you've changed the forks to USD, in which case you'd have to some how attach the fender on to the fork protectors.

Not sure though where you'd be able to buy them in the US...
If you can't find the Acerbis one, then see if you can find a fender from UFO. It's exactly the same thing!

Or get one of a Yamaha XTZ, or similar bike.

Are these the brackets that come with the Baja Designs headlight? Or are they custom?

Really? Mine are rubber. It's a 2000, though. Your kit must be newer.

man thats really wide, how does that width perform compared to a skinner d908? it would just make sense that a wider tire would grip loose surfaces better since it has a wider foot. is that what you have come to notice? or are there other things?

The rubber mounts come stock with the kit...But BD sells the upgraded brackets for about $20.

The 908 only comes in a 140. I won't be getting another one unless I plan on riding a boatload of double-track thru Mexico or something. Pretty bullet proof tire but the traction goes away in a hurry. Never rubbed. Stiff.

can you compare that tire to the d606. im trying to find something to outperforme the dunlop. that tire keeps impressing me everytime i ride on it. i have gotten about 3000 miles out of them, they are bald by then but still they are amazing tires.

The difference between the 908 and the 606 is 302.

Thank you very much!

I've never run a 606. I usually run Maxxis Desert IT's in the rear, 120 size. Good dirt tire but will wear out quickly on the slab. This go around I just put on a Sakura Dirt Shark. Had good luck with it on my old DR-Z so we'll see how it does on the pig.
