Just do Baja! You'll never look back. Just did it on my XR. See Gaspipe's posts for where to go and where to ride. Bumped into one of the guys who did "From Dust to Glory" (Check YouTube if you haven't seen it) at Gonzaga Bay. He and his two buddies were riding tricked out XR's. My XR was in its' element, but I was a little rusty....

HAS to have come with the EPA sticker from the MFG to be eligable for transfer into CA now. The ONLY way to have an XR-R (or any other) with a plate in CA is to buy one that already had a CA plate before Feb 1, 2004.

Unfortunately, that's exactly right. Forgot to mention it.

Fact! That's why I paid $4000 for a plated, no problems with the papers, ratted-out 2000 model.
It had a bigger tank and a steering damper, so it wasn't that bad.

Don't play around in Cali. There are always plated ones on craigslist.

Rad Cap

Can anyone suggest an over the counter sub for an aftermarket 1.6 cap and a drop in thermostat for the XR650R? Thanks

Hey backdrifter. I didn't get his name, but I believe he did the commentary and appears towards the end of the film talking to Mouse. We were busy 'decompressing' and taste testing Pacifico's...

Thermo - NAPA part #115. You will have to drill a small hole in the same location as the stock thermo.

As for the cap I'm not sure...Mine already had the upgrade. Someone will chime in soon I'm sure. In fact I think there is a post on these same questions with pics.

Thanks! I'd been wondering about that. I've replaced the thermostat, but hadn't seen a part number anywhere for the higher-pressure cap and didn't want to pay what XR's is asking.
