18" Front Wheel Conversion '04 KLR650

Woody,

I need a silver 18"x2.15" rim and a set of spokes for the front of my '04 KLR650.

Would you by any chance have a used or take-off rim you can sell me to keep my costs low???

Thanks...

You know Woddy I being looking at the labor involve on your wheels for quite sometime, from the GS ones that you fix to the ones you build and from experience (After doing them my self many times) I can atest you are a freaking genius that still follow the "Old ways" of a job well done..

Nice to see somebody of your honor stature around here..

First of all I'd like to thank Larryboy for turnin me onto Woody's and Bullfrog for steerin me to this thread.
Hate it took me so long.
I feel like a KLR has been lifted off my chest.
Over the past few years I've been gettin hammered with questions about my big front wheel.

And later my Chicky's Sherpa.

I did my time approachin wheel companys about my needs and just before shootin myself, I did it myself.
I'm not proud of how I accomplished my feat and certainly haven't felt comfortable about sharin my methods with my KLR Bros of various mechanical abilities, still with no confidence in a wheel company to recommend.
I'm thinkin finally there is someone out there that is truely interested in helpin.
Thanks Woody for your proven interest with our wheel issues.
I know you may have to open another shop , but could you please devote some time to come up with a reasonably priced spoke and wheel kit for the many do it yourself KLR owners who have expressed interest in Zrod's Big Wheel.
Thanks again for all your support,
Rod

Hi Woody,
Do you have a ball park price to relace and true f/r 16" rims on a Roadking. I would like to have the stock cadmium spokes replaced with ss spokes. Original rims/hubs are in excellent condition.

thanks, bill

Woody I am another of the KLR unfortunate that wants to change my front wheel like bullfrog but I want to go with a 17" so while you are looking for a hub for his keep a look out for another. If that doesnt work maybe me and bullfrog can get a discount somewhere for buying 2. Either way I need a 17" supermoto set up from you. I am stationed in Guam with the US Air Force and was wondering what type of shipping you would be able to use. We get the normal USPS at 96929 zipcode. Thanks and Happy New Year!

shipping is no problem,,,we use usps and actually find it cheaper and quicker to alot of places,,,

regarding your 17 SM set up,,,optimally for your bike size we'd go 3.50x17 front for the 120/70 tire and 4.25 x17 rear,,i've got a few SUN rims 2.75x17 in gold or variations thereof

you can run smaller rim widths and still get the SM feel,,just not the optimal racer set-up...perhaps go to a 100-110 front tire

regarding used hubs,,,folks ,,they are a high demand item,,,,because you are'nt the only ones with the idea of spare wheel sets

Folks remember,,,although we build some of the trickest/strongest state of the art stuff,,,i have always catered to folks with limited budget constraints,,,,just don't ask me to give ya the trick stuff for peanuts,,,,on my part i'll try to give the biggest bang for your dollar.....

happy new year!!!!

in the mean time,,,will get something going for ya manana

woody

Happy New Year to you too Woody.
Hope the snow leaves you alone for awhile.
What info would you need to get us a price for an 18inch rim and spoke set for the front of KLR 650.
Most of the folks that have approached me are interested in the DualSport focus for their transplant.
What's the best bang for the buck price for a 2.25 wide 18inch rim and spoke set for the front hub of a KLR 650.
The 18inch rim gives us more options for DualSport tires.
Thanks for any and all information you can give us,
Rod
