Honda Elite 150 - Parts?

I know about engine model numbers, i also tinker with Datsuns and all the engines are named with letters and numbers. Ive got an A14 in my 210 wagon, L20b in my 620 truck and an extra L16 sitting in the shed.

Well my service manual doesn't say anything about a model number for the engine. The emissions sticker on my bike says the engine family is GHN015341A9. I don't think there is a specific model number or name for the engine other than a CH150.

I would guess that some GY6 parts will fit the Elite engine since alot of china parts are sold on ebay for the CH150 or GY6. My own Elite sports a chinese carb for a GY6. Rollers, clutch shoes and belts for a GY6 work for the CH150 engine.

Seems like this should have been a stand alone thread... but... I think You can determine the Engine style number by looking at the center portion of the part numbers. The one that is most common in the parts catalog or on the engine block parts should be what you are looking for. It may aven be stamped on the block as someone suggested.

That's right, Gy6 is a later design of Honda scooter, CH150 is KJ9/KN7 engine type.

I never though of it before, but KN7 would be right. Almost all parts for the engine that i buy from honda have a number starting in KN7.

That heat sield, I think is more for stylishness (or not) than function.

I've run over 200-300 miles without a functioning exhaust gasket. There is one in there, but its blown. I get the hot rubber-tire smell. But I haven't seen any signs of impending tire explosions yet.



Maybe I'd better check that out.

Also, for those of you having difficulty mounting scooter tires - they are more difficult than mounting motorcycle tires.

I'd be more concernd with a lean condition. My $.02

The GYs is just a number. China took a lot of designs from 70's model Hondas; all of them are labled "GY". For instance the GY-5 is the same as the XR200. (with a different bore and stroke)

I hadn't thought of a lean condition - though how would that work, the gasket being downstream of the carb and cylinder?

It's all academic at the moment. I got reconnected with the Elite Sunday evening, changed it's oil and put a new gasket in. Now I need to get a battery to see if anything else electrical is wonky - I think it needs a new or good used stator. It's cheaper than buying another scooter.

Do not put two trickle chargers on a battery at the same time and expect it to NOT fry your battery. Lesson learned.
