Howdy, just noticed this thread. Love the skidplates. I'm flying out to pick up an 07 R12GSA in a couple of weeks and ride it home. One of the first mods will be aftermarket full exhaust which doesn't have the cross tube on the header. Wondering if you have made a plate that doesn't come so far forward to protect the stock exhaust crossover tube?

Thanks

Skidplates

Hi Jerry, Congrats on the new bike. I was at the BMW national last year and installed a couple of skidplate sets on bikes that just came from the Remus exhaust tent. Both R1200GSA owners agreed that the skidplates looked very good even on the bike without the crossover tube. I could'nt agree more myself. Besides, making different models and options drives the price higher. Be sure to request a "wide" skidplate for a Remus equiped bike. 2HE

Just a quick note to say that I shipped out a skidplate set to Mac welding this morning. It's on the way via the USPS. Thanks. Ernie

Hi Earnie, my bike was the white one on the RH side of the picture. I have since traded for an 08 GSA. The skid plate appears to be some what different on the mounts. Do you have one yet for an 08? I still have the Remus setup so I would need it wider. I also prefer no holes.
Thanks
Rick

Hi Rick, BMW did change the mounting a bit but the skidplate itself is still the same. BMW changed the front mount from the rubber isolators to a solid mount like the one they introduced on the HP2. I have made quite a few for the 2008 model. I can make you up a skidplate that will fit with the Remus pipe. I make a "wide" option that works with the larger O.D. tubing on the Remus exhaust. The "no holes" option is not a problem either. If you would like to get one on the way contact me at: dakotabeemer@hotmail.com Look forward to hearing from you. Ernie

I sent a satin black skidplate set off this morning to John in Idaho. He also purchased six of my wall mount helmet hangers in a silver vein powdercoat. They are on the way. Thanks for the order. Ernie

Hi Ernie

DO you have any pictures of your Wall Mount Helmet Hangers?

Might be interested.

Wall mount helmet hangers

Hi Edmund, I have pictures posted on my website at: www.twinheadlighternie.smugmug.com Click on Dakota Motorsports and then click on accessories. They are made from steel tubing and powdercoated. I have them in quite a few different colors. We have a closet in our garage with 8 of them mounted on the wall. Plenty of room to hang helmets when guests come over. Ernie
