Lamido ... Sudan ... In Africa

Hi my friend, I read these posts backwards and when I saw your name I thought that you were a Fulani from Nigeria, Chad or Cameroon. In Fulani "Lamido" means Prince, only the scions of Sultan families are called Lamido, which is a title. Maybe your ancestors...
Anyway, I am happy to see you here, I have been coming to this site for the last 7 years (2005). I sold my KTM 950 in 2010, but I cannot live without a bike and I am thinking of getting another one.
I am attracted to the Cagiva 900, and actually I bought my KTM 950 because I couldn't find a Cagiva 900 in 2005.
I am in the USA, and riding places are almost as interesting as in Africa.
I am planning in the long run to do an Alaska-Ushuaia, maybe within the next two years God willing.

Ride safe, and keep the beautiful pics coming, I miss Africa so much.

Hi all

Today I washed and serviced the S10 for the winter hibernation and I thought I might take a few pictures and post here on the forum. I have done a few mods on the bike to make it the way I wan't it and maybe it can be an inspiration to someone.

So here's the bike.

I made my own headlight protection from a windshield of a forest machine.

Bought this spoiler from a Polish company and I have a higher windshield.

I have HID lights on the high beam and have mounted cheap 9w LED:s from ebay in the fake air intakes to improve visibility in traffic.

Clock/thermometer, GPS, heated grips, 12v power socket, higher/wider bars that's raised with spacers and better hand protection.

Wider foot pegs for dirt riding. I have also cut and welded the brake pedal to be able to lower it enough to fit these pegs.

Other things done to the bike is progressive fork springs with slightly thicker oil, braided brake lines, crashbars, highwaypegs, center stand, widened plate for the side stand (from 1150GS) and probably some other stuff that I can't remember now.

The engine is a 3VD with TRX barrels and pistons and a mildly ported head. I also have a GPR can as you can see.

Next thing will be to change the rear shock for a fully adjustable aftermarket one.

I took a trip up to North Cape this summer and this was a great road that we found. It was around 80 km long and quite wet from the massive raining.

Some pictures of my Euro moto trip from this summer 10,000km in a month. on a $1300 '89 S10. Only issues were a broken shifter in the Italian alps, two blown out tires (I wish it had a center stand) and some rough running issues that solved them selves once I left western Europe, and a destroyed chain on the ride back in Slovenia. Luckily i broke down in a town that had a motorcycle dealership, two in fact.

Started at point "A" Burgas Bulgaria, rode up to Prague, watched the Herzberg Enduro Race in Austria, down through Italy over to Madrid Spain and then a fast ride back to Bulgaria to catch a plane to china for work.

Outside Burgas Bulgaria

Outside of Sofia bulgaria

First flat tire fix outside of Prague CZ

this fix didnt last long but i was able to fix the shifter by drilling out the joint and using a bolt instead. the fix lasted and the bike is still like that. I also had to weld the shifter when i fell in the woods in Bulgaria. Ended riding to a village in 1st gear and locating a welder.

Bike next to a buddys Fiat 500. Tiny little things

2nd flat repair outside of Barcelona Spain.

Madrid Spain. What really sparked this little road trip was this place. I have a buddy that was getting 2 weeks vacation from flying helicopters in Afghanstan. He chose Spain, I had about a month off and was vacationing in Bulgaria at the time so I bought the bike and took off. Another buddy came in from the states.

I have to say I am very happy with the bike and wish they sold in the states.
