Had a great mtb ride yesterday. Rode all 3 loops for a total of 10 miles. Its wonderful to have some trails on this side of town. I'm already sick of indoor gerbil wheels (spin classes) which I've only been doing for 2 weeks. I almost forgot how much fun it is to ride a mtb in the woods until yesterday. Its been too long. Got some catching up to do.

Beautiful day here...

....17 miles round trip from home, to South Mt Park, up Desert Classic and then back home.

I even saw a couple of... paragliders? ... doing their thing. From the ride:

..and looking towards the northeast:

I miss latex tubes.
I used to ride Specialized folding clinchers with a slik casing, add the latex tube and they felt like sew-ups. Only without the changing out on the road issues.
Had an official at the Hill Crit insist this set up of folding clinchers were in fact sew-ups. So, I told him if he could roll the tire I'd give him a twenty.
Tore the calluses off his hands trying.

Hope the 300tpi + latex tube ride is still effing worth it!

*I* suck? Or is it Ducnuts sucking?

If me, why? I'm the one freezin my ass off in upper 20s temps! Out testing winter gear for y'all! (them Specialized tights with the windproof front are nifty)

I've determined that my old-as-dirt Sidi booties that aren't completely wind/waterproof are actually warmer than the new Gore booties. Prolly cause there's less room in em. The shoes I have fill up the entire Sidi bootie where there's a bit of room in the front of the Gore booties. I've decided that unless its actually precipitating, I'm wearing the old stuff till it wears out.

...oh... I haven't broken out the PI 'double layered front' or the old Solar Alpha (Descente copy) PBS fleece tights yet either! That Solar Alpha stuff was supposed to actually warm up in the sun. Don't know if it ever did, cause them tights are too warm for anything but AK temps!

More 'OH!' moments from playing UW Hockey tonite: If yer gonna do a two a day, make for sure you drink enough fluids! I was cramping up pretty good playing UW Hockey tonite.

Hey, when y'all pass the old guy huffing and puffing along on the fresh-out-of-the crate Specialized Secteur, give him a wave. It's me. Stretch-pants and all.

That's a pretty darned nice bike Jim. A bud in the club has one. You'll be plenty happy with it.

No one seemed to notice that all my diatribes in that thread started with "I was riding my bicycle and .... "
