Just got in from a 3:37 bicycle ride with the 'club' that 'belongs' to the shop. I rode the same stretch of road 4x: once to the ride, once coming back towards the house ON the ride, back towards the start, then back home.

At no time in this ride was I more than about 10mi away from home.

I'm tired.

My ride today took almost exactly the same amount of time, but somehow I think you probably went just a bit further than I did. Solo CX for me as my regular riding buddies coach the local H.S. MTB team and are out of town at a race.

I was suprised and pleased at the elevation gain, but I cramped up like a mofo with about 5 mi. left. Thinking that I may need to switch back to the Powerbar gel bites (like 'em, but kind of spendy) and push more water. Now I better go hose off the bike...

$0.40 a piece...

And taste pretty good

I never made it out, instead spent an hour on the rollers then 3 hours tossing a 7yo around at an indoor water park which was worse than 3 hours on the bike!

I'm not much of a road bike guy, But for sure I can appreciate a great work of art, Have you gals and guys ever see Dario Pegoretti's work....??

The rigidity of Aluminum with the suppleness of steel

Plus the paintjobs are freaking awesome too

Enjoy

I would die if I tried to walk the easy parts of that.
Still cool though.
OK, maybe he has more skill than me and all my friends.
My old steel bike is now in a box here in the hotel. Friday we fly home.
The "PLAN" was to part it out and sell it on fleabay, but I'm leaning heavily toward a fixed gear, re-live my younger days ride.

Hell I'm not be able to ride like that Even if they pay me a lot for it, Including Hospital bills and many months in bed.

The dude is pretty good regardless of who paid for the bike

Yep, that is a fine patina of FarNorCal mud (dried, not frozen, thankfully!). Funny that you mention the Quaker chewy granola bars, we almost always have some on hand, our son likes them for breakfast. Maybe a couple bars and some electrolyte-replacement drink in the 2nd bottle could work...

I goof off on my road bike all the time and I worry about the forks the most. The C-dale 6/13 has a carbon steerer and I always worry it will snap off at the stem. Since I'm not a fist pumper if I win a race, I do dumb things by roadie standards such as wheelies, crossed up bunny hops and stoppies. Before you get excited, I've never won a group sprint, only solo break aways, so no one was ever in danger except me and finish line officials! One stoppie resulted in myself being launched over the bars and luckily I not only landed on my feet, it wasn't captured on film!
