And if you're feeling particularly generous...

... maybe you would consider donating to my Booty team? It's a group of 8 motorcycle buddies who decided to participate in a 24 hour BICYCLE ride to benefit cancer research. Should be interesting

Anybody had dealings with this outfit?

http://www.artscyclery.com/Specializ...e-SP2SJEV.html

Locally this bike sells for $5,400 + 6% sales tax.

Assuming the bike is shipped from California and that I won't be charged sales tax as a result, I'd be saving hundreds.

That's a 2011 model, and it's not an Evo.

How fast is fast?

I've been reviewing some racing vids filmed at Santos on the same trails I travel to get some idea of my progress. The video below is of particular interest because I did my best run on it last Sunday, averaging about 12 mph, without feeling that I was pushing too hard. These guys are going faster - probably 15 mph average - which is what I'm shooting for. The video is deceptive in that the turns are much tighter than they look, and there's some rough terrain which is difficult to notice. One thing I see these guys doing that's different is that I tend to coast through corners to give my legs some rest, whereas they're pedaling non-stop. I can go 15 mph on that trail without fear of crashing, but I don't have the stamina to keep it up like these guys do. If I ever get to the point where I can pace these guys, I'll die happy.

I'm interested in saving money, but the bike I want to save money on is a 2012 Stumpjumper Expert Evo.

If you forget about lap times, cadence and heart rate, forget that others are even on the trail and just ride your own ride, you can be happy now.

Nah. I'm very goal oriented. Setting goals and achieving them is what makes me happy.

I was under the impression the Specialized dealers couldn't ship their bikes.

It no longer matters because my local Specialized dealer is willing to match the price on that website.
