He's turning Expert soon, so I had to address the issue. Three days a week of turn clinics out in front of the house, for the last two months. He's getting MUCH better and his confidence is increasing.

Now we're working on pedal speed...

Why do so many people create segments that span traffic lights. This is just a waste of time and clutters the data. I know you can hide segments but there are so many stupid ones now. I understand that longer segments may have no option. I have only created 1 segment and use this 65km obscure loop in the hills to track my own progress. Mark

Last weekend I took the Garmin unit along on a 120 mile motorcycle ride, just to get an idea where this route took us. It wasn't surprising that some of it happened to go through Strava segments, but what surprised me were the segments themselves. One of them seemed to go just from one stoplight to the next. Another started in a parking lot, turned right at a bridge, then ended without any apparent reason. There were other weird ones as well. Why would someone create arbitrary, meaningless segments like that?

my strava update.....

So my quest to avoid the recently chip sealed roads and still ride my favorite hills has led me to two more kom sections. On the first, the results are typical, i'm mid pack on times with anywhere from 10-20 rides posted. On the other, i'm 46th out of 50. I guess that climb was part of the race course when they had a race in my area earlier this year.

Last year, I tore my calf muscle sometime mid year. Took the rest of the year to heal.
Broke a toe playing rugby a few months ago, and coupled with another foot surgery, I barely began walking again last month.

Other than a few short stints on rollers, I haven't really ridden my bike in quite a while; probably, at least a year. Been on disability but it's too hot to go riding during the day. I've been walking more and no longer walk like a drunk, although the longer I walk the more I end up looking like i'm drunk.

I managed to do 20 miles on the bike last night. Riding at night (11pm) is brilliant. No traffic, cool temperatures. I think i'll have to make this a habit.

The guys I know that are off hunting KOMs on strava certainly know they're 'racing.'
