Road, enamel. Kool lemon is the color (aka yellow) with red pinstriping.

Yeah I know your pain - I want one - a chrome track 'mount. Hell yeah.

Holy crap. We're hopeless.

A dude mentions he buys a pair of $60 tights and all the other guys care about is the cost part.

Cyclocross practice tonight. Had myself some nice falls (mostly due to declipping issues), but I managed to make it through without smashing a testicle.

I'm really hoping I can make the first race this weekend. Kona Jake or not.

New Bike

I ride bicycles pretty regularly, but I've stayed out of the bike threads since I haven't been excited about one in a long time.

That changed yesterday with this craigslist find. Much better than my mountain bike for commuting and towing the kid in a trailer, which is what most of my biking these days consists of.

Just a basket, light, and fenders away from perfection. I love it!

A few pics from the race last weekend. This is the local DFW series.

I started out with the lead during the first lap

...but I've been off the bike for 2 months with a knee injury so I was overtaken after about 2 miles.

The rest of the race was kind of a training ride to get my breathing under control and get myself used to the stresses of racing again. I'm getting there and expect to be competitive in a few weeks (at a state level). I finished 2nd in this race but was a little shakey at the end. The tmbra race this weekend is at Palo Duro canyon (TX) and should be beautiful. I'll have plenty of pics after the weekend. A few more...

The finish line...

Ahhh the good stuff...

Me and Deets watching the next race....

Sadly, us yoopers are not entrusted with such large cans of the high life.

We have to make do with 12oz cans.

Anyone in the Nebraska/Iowa area that does cross racing?

Can you give me a link to the web site? I would like to try to see one in the area, and then decide if it is something I should set as a goal for me in the future. Yes, I am still planning on making a triathlon next year as my goal, but some of the cross pictures makes me think it is something I might enjoy as well, even though I am old and overweight.

Does the thought of riding a 650B bike fill you with:

A: Joy since you'll be the only cool kid on the block with one

B: Dread since there are precious few choices of rims, tires and tubes...
