If you normally ride a large-ish road frame, look in the 19-21" or L-XL sizes. Smaller is better to a point. Too small is just as bad as too big.

For you, I'd go with the 21" mtn bike.

I have a 'M' Stumpjumper FSR, and its just a little too short to the bars, needs a longer top tube and it would be muchos better, i.e an L. its OK until I hit long steep climbs in the dirt, then its hard to keep the front wheel tracking, i want a longer wheelbase.

I'm 6'0", medium arms/legs. I used to like to ride a 24" road frame (old school lugged steel), 23" was OK with the right stem and bars, 25" was too tall.

More info please...On both the riding area and what type of helmet cam you are using. Looks like a fun ride for sure and I've been thinking about getting a helmet cam for a while.
Thanks,
Justin

My oldest daughter is a little over 5' and my other daughter will probably be around 5'10 or 5'11" when she is done growing. My brother and I are about the same height, but he is only about an inch shorter than me.

Here's the newest addition to my stable. A new leftover Giant XTC. I hope to do a couple races this year. Should be pretty humbling.

Sounds good. If it is next spring I might actually be in shape enough to keep up on the SS.

Modesto, California. Smack in the middle of the state. That park is 2 miles from my house. For being so close, I can't complain a bit.... other than I wish it were longer. Actual ridable singletrack is only about 5 miles, the parts you saw are definitely the most technical and riding it from both ends offers a different perspective. The whole trail is a little over 5.5 miles from end to end, so I can do a 15 mile ride round trip or do it twice for a good workout. There's enough differing woops and dips to change it up a bit on the second pass. The eastern end offers the most variation. There are a lot of trails within a few hours of here. If you want more detail, let me know.

From end to end, the trail is only a little over 5 miles in length. See Google Maps. Zoom in via the satellite mode and you can see the trail from end to end. The trail runs east from Claus Road to where the creek crosses La Loma. It goes east from Claus, but it's not really that good that way yet... it's private property and the owners aren't too keen on folks out there.

Camera is a 480 line BulletCam piped into an 8mm Sony Camcorder I carry in my Camelbak. With the recorder and battery pack, the setup is a little heavy so I don't carry it often when I'm on the mtn bike, but it works well for motorcycling.
