Elitist snobbery . The rules don't apply to bikes, I don't care what the law says. Cars own the street, and it is the bikers job as a lower organism on the food chain to not get eaten. Sometimes following the rules for cars helps that goal, sometimes it doesn't. But the idea that the bikes and cars are in anyway equal in a practical sense is dumb.

I'm gonna say that for 95% of my riding, acting like a cage is a good thing. There IS that 5% tho.

Hie thee to CA there young lady!

I'm sure there's LOTS of trails that you can bomb down (and climb up!) where Oly is.

Come on, let's go. Winter is the trail riding season here.
Soon all the grass will be green.

I hate you.

Every year around this time it's the same thing for me: The first snow falls, and for a few days there's a honeymoon period where everything is blanketed in white and it's pretty and charming. And pretty novel, to this Florida boy. Then I get sick of it and contemplate moving to California.

This year the honeymoon period lasted about 30 minutes. It snowed on sunday night, and as I struggled to walk to the subway station on monday morning without slipping falling on my ass or getting my feet soaked in a deep puddle of icewater, I felt nothing but despair. If I'm lucky, there'll only be another 4 months of this.

Are there a lot of public trails like this around the country?

Where I live, it is tough enough to find dirt bike riding areas, and the state parks don't allow bikes on hiking paths.

Buy a mtn bike and call me. I'll show you the good trails here.

Mtn Bike Advice Needed

Once an avid biker but out of touch with whats out there today...and shocked at the prices. My son took my beloved MB2 away to school and now it's about trashed. What would you recommend for a replacement. I ride trails, improved and rough, and would like at least front suspension. Want to keep the price around $400.00 or so. May buy two as the bike-trasher has been turned-on to Mtn bike racing and wants to try it.

Are there decent trails in Omaha? I like to ride dirt bikes, and ended up paying for a membership in a 160 acre property about 35 miles from me, as the public trail system has been taken over by quads.

It would depend upon what your LBS has and what size you are. You can find mountain bikes on our local craigslist.org every week. $100 - $4500, it just depends upon who is selling what.
