Bicycle Commuters of Anchorage

I totally admire and respect y'all hittin the track and I'd ride one too if there was one nearby.

I'm still bicycle commuting to work regularly. And yesterday I was part of a project promoting healthy living in the far North through outdoor activities including bicycling.

The opening shot of this segment on our local tv newscast shows my Puglsey fat tire bike. The girl interviewed, Kristi, is a Bicycle Commuters of Anchorage board member. She's a little 4'11", Professional, mother of 1, that's married to a friend of mine and commutes 9mi each way on her bicycle to her job! Pretty cool.

Anything 2 wheels for me, thank you. Mark H.

you do have a year on me so I guess that's more time to beat yourself up. I'm a fairweather scared 'e' cat anyway so not much opportunity to really wreck myself

Track crashes seem to involve a lot of collarbones for some reason.

HIGHLY recommend NOT crashing!

Aktooly, track racin's prolly some of the safest racin I've ever done. Everybody's going the same way, and almost everybody speeds up and slows down roughly the same. Oh, and the #1 safest thing about racin track? IT turns for ya so all you hafta do is ride a straight line!

I slid down the wall my first time out in a velodrome and hurt my shoulder a little-I didn't realize it was a minor rotator cuff tear until I totalled my other rotator cuff and had it to compare to.

Collarbones? I have beautiful straight and symmetrical clavicles...according to the surgeon who fixed my rotator cuff and biceps tendon, my bones are like ivory, he was pissed when the first screw seized and he had to get it out and start all over again.

So I guess that makes 2 rotator cuffs and 2 AC separations if my memory serves me, not much else broken. Ever had a nerve conduction test done?

I saw some sprints at the Helsinki Olympics... Guys circling the top of the track and

WHOOPS!

Slid on their asses straight to the apron!

So, don't stop on the steep tracks m'kay. I hear the Home Depot center track in LA is like that. Oh, and don't run colored tires. Slicker'n the black ones for some reason.

I kept pinching one in my left brachial plexus and to check them they stick needles into the ends of the nerves and wiggle them around so they can listen to them on audio. Good times, feels weird

try the Forest City Velodrome in London, ON. 50º banking! I've only ridden that one and the outdoor one in Michigan

The track in Boulder is based on the one in Forest City. Our banking is only 45deg though..

I didn't stick around that town long enough to get any good at it, I have no idea how far away the closest one is? I'm not sure if they built one in Bromont or not?
