And while I was out doing a bike pr0n shoot this morning, I snuck in a few pictures of my Unit.

(Man, Unit jokes just never get old. For me anyway. )

I got in a nice Friday ride yesterday, 40m hilly, and fast. If I can just get a ride in on Sunday I might find my way back to a pattern of more than one ride a week now...

Wifey rides a streetbike but I got her out yesterday on a demo for a 20 mile mixed ride on a FS 29er.

She liked it mostly, but the woman/owner she's bought streebike from before recommended a nice 26er.

So she ended up with a GF Hi Fi Deluxe 26 for a sweet price.

We rode 32 miles today on trails and tracks. Pretty easy stuff but still with roots and tight twists.

Her lbs is gonna swap out the bars, stem, seat and shifters.

I've got a riding partner!

So when one breaks I can ride the other. But really I'd like to have one SS and one geared with the option of running SS. Those are some looooooong hoses.

Thanks to everyone that recommended a thorough cleaning and lubrication for a dead shifter. I did and now the bloody things run through the cogs better than the much newer Deore stuff on my Raleigh!

Mini-rant: was at an LBS this afternoon checking out tires and handlebars and got to looking at the MTBs on the floor. WTF is it with the giant logos and stickers on the rims and tires? I recognize that I'm more than a little out of touch, but jeebus. It just kinda screws up a good looking machine.

Those stickers come off if you don't want to be a poser.

I tell you we've been getting beautiful riding weather every wknd here. Did a 36 mile fixed gear ride (first fixie ride in a yr!!!)

Did okay but the hills were pretty slow going. Was still able to zip past a few roadies uphill......downhills though, they cruised right past me

You guys have bird issues in the UP? Lots of folks in Brisbane would dress up their helmets like that to discourage swooping birds (usuall magpies) during nesting season. Those little f'ers don't mess around, swooping was a daily event.
