So a friend of our was over last nite to pick up her cooler and eat the curry I made. (too much ginger BTW ) and the subject of riding came up.

Guess who's SO wants to ride more?

We're just gonna hafta find a way to get her comfy in traffic cause that's all that there seems to be out here. If we go SW-ish, it opens up, but the roads are all flat. If we go pretty much straight west, we head over the Tucson mtns, but then there's itty bitty roads with a fair amount of traffic on em.

What to do?! Moving to Denver isn't an option right this second, but its in the works.

The mountain roads in the Denver area have just as much traffic.

RogueWife got comfortable by putting lots of miles on wide roads with a good shoulder before facing the narrow twisties, and bigger more crowded roads.

Now she does fine in traffic.

I know you don't like driving to ride, but maybe that's what you've gotta do.

I've come to accept that my gf will never be very excited about road rides from home. Drive to quieter roads, or to a trail (paved or not), and she's up for it. (Actually, her issue with traffic played a big part in getting me into mountain biking.)

There's gotta be a good variety of singletrack and dirt roads around Tucson, too.

Yeah, but I have a REAL issue with driving to go riding.

Only time I can see it is to race. Track or otherwise.

I don't even like driving to go hashing, but I can justify that by sayin 'its a party!'

East coast skiing = lots of bare patches.

Y'know, I've NEVER skiied powder. Not ever. I'm either on spring slush, east coast ice, or a combination of the 2 and man made snow.

that shot I posted we were actually on splitboards and it was pretty much slush on crust-a little tricky riding
