That's a great looking bike! I went to PG Graphics webpage. Perhaps I'm missing something. But I didn't see a specific package for the SM. Did you combine other graphics packages? (and I promise not to copy!)

PG graphics will design anything you want. Give them an idea and let them throw some designs at you. These were done custom by taking the 950SE idea and adding some color.

I have. They have a great tone but are too damn loud with them out, so I have been leaving them in.

Is your tank warping from ethanol - yet? Not that it eats fuel pumps, leans out your jetting or is just a political crock-o-shite - Its a safety issue. Please see this post I put up on Orange Crush and cross post it wherever. Its time to organize.

My bike was missing the baffles in the Leos when I bought it. I rode it over a year that way and I'm amazed that I was never stopped. It sounded really cool but it was very loud! Whenever I got on the throttle hard, there could not have been any doubt to anyone with ears within a half mile or more that I was speeding! No chance of being stealthy! An interesting observation though -the bike cold starts much easier with baffles in.

OK, we've waited long enough! Spill the details about your bike getting impounded!!

Thanks for posting the link. I think that gas stations may not be required here to post ethanol content on the pumps because I do not see the stickers everywhere but I know from my melting fiberglass Ossa tanks that there had to have been ethanol in the gas. I was using either Phillips 66 or Shell.

Pure gas.org is useless. Its not updated or checked and most states now must sell E10 by EPA mandate. Some state governments have not passed legislation requiring the 10% content sticker. If you're in a corn growing state, they probably don't want it there.

I've found half a dozen gas stations in VA and WV that don't sell gas with ethanol - it's generally found in or near farming areas primarily because it wrecks older trucks and tractors. There is one on Rt 259, in VA, just before you cross into WV. There are also several fuel additives that so far - the SMR I had and then the Adventure - have not shown tank expansion problems - and I had the tanks off of the Adv. for 2 months while I rebuilt it. I get the additives from Eastwood.

Thanks for the baffle info. Going to try and find a video of them out, I want the bike to bark, but not be annoying for commuting and hwy. This stems from riding w/ a buddy w/ a nicely set up triumph. That puppy sounds so good.

Regarding the impound. My cousin's SV650 was under the mechanical knife, so I let him take my DR650, myself on the KTM up into the malibu mnt.s. All was well, saw Jay Leno in his denim tuxedo at the local Rock Store, cousin said "I wanna try the beast." So he mounted the KTM for the ride home. We were headed home when we rounded a blind turn into a straight. Quarter mile down was a sheriff. Light's on, crazy u-turn and he was behind us. 61 in a 45.
After a ten min wait of him in his car w/ our i.d.'s and paper work he gets out and says "Earic (thats my cousin) your license is suspended. It's an arrest-able offense."

Uh-Oh

Turns out the proper insurance paper work never made it to the DMV after he had a motorcycle accident 9 months prior.
Cop turned out to be really decent about it. Said he had to impound the bike he was on (KTM), but he'd let me break it out that night as opposed to the standard 30 day hold (which would have sucked so bad.) And he'd not take Earic in.

Got bike that evening at Malibu tow for $233 for the tow and 2 1/2 hours they held it. What a racket.

Earic went to DMV this week and got it straightened out. Happy ending.

"Back together and it feels so gooooood...."

Went out and froze my ass off for a nice ride today. Clutch lost pressure and went soft 80 miles into it..... Then fixed itself 20 miles later. Need to look into that.

Worth it though. When people say "Why do you ride motorcycles!?!? They're so dangerous!!"

I'm just going to show them this picture.

....freeeeeeezing......

Just curious-- what's freezing your ass off where you live in California?

It was 32 degrees when I left home yesterday at 9:30 to meet 4 other idiots, I mean enthusiasts, for a ride. There was still icy patches on the ground, including a long real sphincter-tightener exiting from one highway to another on the way to the start

Anyway it eventually "warmed up" into the 40s as we got a nice 100-miler in on the backroads of NJ.

The 950-SM relevant news is that, based on my experience with one on the VFR, I put a Michelin Pilot Road 3 front on the bike and it works very well. Of particular note is the very neutral steering an easy turn-in. I like it a lot, and will try a Road 3 rear when the Road 2 rear needs replacing.
