) with them, but KTM USA is in Ohio: and might be kind to the (apparently very few) people who bought the last models of the 950's.

Where is the best (read cheapest) place to get the slip on Akros (625.050.99.000?)
De Catting my stock silencers still leaves them with too much heat.

10,212 (S)miles
Well, it's been 2 years with the bike. Must have have some fun today, as the fuel light came on at 111 miles
Odd that you can't do paintball and and have a motorized vehicle to ride this little trail; but since I didn't have a paintball gun....

Now that's an interesting sign, Walter! haha! By the way, what tires are you running? The shadows/tread patterns looks liek distanzias.. am I right?
Next time I buy meats for the scoot, i'm gonna get some that are more dirt worthy than the metz M3's I have now :)

They're the Pirelli Scorpion Syncs; which I feel work very well for the kind of riding I mostly do.

Seeing many ride this bike in places missing tarmac, why is this bike in Road warriors. All the pertinent info is in Orange crush. Why not move it?

With the frequency with which that is brought up, you would think it would be obvious, but...

I propose a new forum classification for us... "Orange Rush".

I'm interested, but need a lot more information...materials, weight, protection, price point (roughly), etc. I dragged my pipe over a rock the other day...horrendous sound - no damage (nary a scratch), but it got me thinking about a plate.

Id buy a bash plate, also.. given it wasn't like US $500 or something silly like that. I dont offorad my SM hardly at all now, because the temptation to take it places it has no buisness going, is too great for me. i'd smash that oil tank all to bits.
A glide plate would be cheap insurance.

A preliminary look into it indicates "possible, but difficult"-- the challenge being doing something that is both good looking and effective.
The brains (not me) of the project sez... "In any case, it is a significant project for two reasons. 1) The sheer size of it; it would be a big part. 2) The difficulty of mounting it; while there are obvious mounting points, they all appear to be in places where there is not a straight connect between mount and guard. This is usually not problematic in itself, but making the mounts look attractive can prove difficult." the net is that it would be more of a rock guard that a bashplate-- which would probably be sufficent. He's going to do a mock-up using illustration board to see what it looks like. I'll post what develops.

I'm looking forward to seeing what he makes. I would love to have a rock guard on my SM. Keep those posts coming! Paulzilla screwed with this post 08-06-2008 at 06:52 PM |

I took the ol' 950 out for a short little ride today, went about 50 miles, and found some fun little four wheeler trails I just had to take the Sm up and down a few times.
As it turns out, M3's work actually fairly decent in hardpack, hehe. Here's some pretty crappy cellphone pics, but I guess they'll have to do :) A neat little road with no name.. ![]() It winds alongside this creek.. ![]() Another angle of the creek.. ![]() a bit further down the road, there was a makeshift trailhead.. ![]() heres a shot about a half mile down the trail.. ![]() And here's where I popped out... and yes, I had to push the bike under that wire fence you see just behind the bike in this pic.. ![]() I had an absolute blast, and only got about 30 miles away from home at furthest. I learned I most certainly need a proper DS bike.. i had too much fun gettin bakc in the dirt again!

Exhaust question
I'm looking to replace my aftermarket exhaust with something quieter. I have Akrapovic cans on my 2006 950 SM. I found some aftermarket cans from a 950 Adventure, will they bolt on to my exhaust? It looks like I can re-use the hangers from the Akrapovics. My question is, will the Adventure cans bolt up to the SM pipes. Thanks,
Paulzilla |
