I beleive they are all interchangeable, based on a lot of posting on this a while ago.

BTW, if you switch, I may be interested in the Akras if they are the short ones like Brent installed

With the inserts in place, Akras are quite quiet. Since you say yours is loud, it seems like you must have no inserts? Do you have the Evolution or oval cans? I have an extra set of inserts from the Evolution cans (which might be the same as the inserts for the oval cans?). PM me if you're interested.

No inserts here

Yeah, my inserts are long gone. The previous owner was a Harley guy. The first thing he did was to throw away the stock exhaust. He bought some high end cans and pulled out the baffles. A real Righteous Bro.

VENT!!!!!!!!!!: after having my fuel tank vapor lock after a fill up (I didn't think it was too full!) I am now doing a cannalabotomy. What a pain in the A$$ . Hoses, spring clips, places where only people with small hands can get into. Trying to reassemble, arrrrgh. Ok, back to work.

Is there a link to the how to on this? I've had some starting issues after fill up and parking in the sun. I didn't think it was necessary, but I can see now how vapor lock sucks.

try this one: http://home.comcast.net/~garrysimmon...er-Removal.htm.

My problems aren't over yet. Got the bike back together, I lifted the rear stand up and managed to slice my hand open, what a dumb ass. 10 stitches later, I start the bike up, and now it's acting like I've fouled a plug. I'm having zero luck with my new bike. Try again tomorrow.

Real nice ride today in perfect (60's and dry) weather n company with Barry on his 950SE. We swapped for a while, as I'm thinking of getting an SE and wanted a refresher. It was nice as usual but, man, the brake sucks

I'd really like to try one with a 19/18 or 19/17 and good brake. I'm thinking maybe a lowered one could be a good mixed surface and semi LD adv bike; which could possibly replace the SM and make room for a SuperDuke for pure pavement. Just thinking out loud...

Black Dog rack on an SM

I wanted to be able to mount a Givi bag on my SM. I contacted several rack selling places and every one was out of stock or out of town. I ordered a Black Dog rack by default.

I talked to Kurt at Black Dog and he had a rack for the SE but didn't know if it would fit the SM. He said I could order it and if it didn't fit he would pay for the return shipping. I thought that was a great deal. He sent the rack and it bolted right on like it was made for the SM. No fuss, no muss. So the SE rack from Black Dog is a direct bolt on for the SM, just so you know. And by the way, nice rack.

I then pulled the rack back off and drilled four more holes in it and bolted on some Givi hardware. I put the rack back on the bike and there you have it; a Black Dog / Givi rack for the SM.

Here's a link to some photos at Photo Bucket:

Just to keep the uninterested masses updated. I think it may be the intake manifold boot (thanks CPmodem) maybe it wasn't seated correctly. It's all together, now I need a new plug before I'm sure.

Maine, if the biek ran ok before you started takign stuff off, the plug wotn foul from just sitting there, you know? Its got to be an air leak somewhere.

Just an fyi- and overly lean biek will run just as poorly as an overly rich one. I really think its one of those intake manifod-to airbox boots- it's easy to get those jacked up during the install.

Agreed, But I had it running a few times (very poorly) and believed I fouled it then.
