A Swedish icon is Baja bound...

TWAirlines is taking his beloved (my orginal) orange crush (2006 950 SE) with him from Swednavia to SoCal when he moves later this summer.

Oh my god... will this be a toy for the deserts of the southwest US and baja or what...?! This SE's going to heaven!

Eh, Long story short... I already have 4000 miles on it this season, and I thought it'd be better on the road. I was hoping for a bike like a naked vstrom with good suspension and POWA. It really is closer to a top heavy DR650 with Stiff suspension and power.

I just took it off the market cuz if I couldn't figure out what else I'd want. The SE sure is a crowd pleaser.

Hey, I said it had more power... And had stiffer suspension. And I'll admit, It's also orange.

So there's THREE things that distinguish it.

Most capable bike out there! KTM should never have stopped making it. It's all about the skills you have and the skills you lack. As for me, I will never be able to ride my SE to it's full potential. Unfortunately, I am a legend in my own mind, LOL!!

You're not alone, none of us can. None of us can ride a 125 to it's full potential either or we'd all be pro factory riders.

Take it from a guy who's 6'4" 290 lbs, the 950se excels at far more than wheelies. It is the only bike I've ridden off road that doesn't make me feel like my knees are dragging. And landing a jump is so sweet. Better than my 426 and smoother on the throttle. As some have said, I have yet to ride it at potential but I promise to keep working on it.

I had a DR650 once. Great bike for the budget minded.
But it would have literally "disassembled" a long time ago if I rode it like my Katoom. Quality, design, fit and finish, performance - not even close to the 950....not even the same league....like comparing a Biggest Loser chick (early in the episode) to a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model.....

Which part of the design do you like better? The all day (weekend?) valve check, Paper air filter that takes 30 minutes to change, Or the water pump that leaks into the oil? Perhaps you enjoy attaching the sidestand to the engine case... Or the skidplate to the oil bag...

you do realize the DR650 is LIGHTER than a SE, right?

Remember here guys... I OWN ONE, I LIKE IT.... Maybe not as much as I though I would, But I do. and more importantly, Chicks dig it.

Yes, It has TONS of capabilities... But whats that matter if they aren't reachable by mere mortals? Its the old adage... Its more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow.

Ah well, This is a PICTURE thread:

BENRON,

I'm feelin' ya', Brother. I'm in the same spot.

And, like yours, mine may be up on the auction block, very soon...for a lotta' the same reasons you mentioned (dare I mention the constant "gremlins", as well?).
