I am a lucky guy to have a 950SE (MY2008) in my garage since today!

Bought from a fellow french forum member, the bike is in mint condition and has been prepared for rally-raid (it did 2 Morocco desert trips).

I don't expect DVLA stats to be correct for Erzberg editions - mine doesn't say Erzberg on the V5, but is identified as an Erzberg in the warranty card/service record

Serial number sticker...

Adjustable foot pegs...

Mine doesn't have the fancy sticker on the trees, just the 100mph sticker, nor the adjustable pegs you have.
Did come with all the bling: CF guards, orange anodized rear brake and clutch covers, hand guards.

FWIW, I think what was actually delivered to the customer seems to differ quite substantially from the spec in the press releases. I don't have the anodised clutch reservoir cover, or the billet clutch cover - instead I have a carbon clutch cover

I expect that if these were converted from regular SE spec inside of dealers workshops instead of at the factory, that they'd have used whatever parts they had to hand - and if they fell short, could well have substituted some parts

Doesn't surprise me only one registered as an Erzberg, as said most were left over stock that were tricked up to sell. All the differences were just off the shelf add-ons. I can imagine the conversation with the broker when insuring it, we have no listing for that....

The US got the steel on the SE's, some of the prices on this side of the pond were extortionate. I had to order mine in 07 from the factory, full price. If I had waited another 18 month I could have got one for less, over 2 grand cheaper with Akra's thrown in.

Took the Erzberg for a couple more rides out of Santiago guided by the very capable Goti on his 990 Adv.

Friday saw us heading up Valley de Maipo SE of Santiago to Banos Morales.

A very nice day out and my first day with the SE on the gravel. I was pretty impressed at Goti's pace. These guys have years of experience on these big adventure bikes riding quite knarly stuff on standard tyres and it shows. After the odd excursion into the ditches I was getting the hang of it. I need to because the next day I'd signed up for a group ride-out to an abandoned copper mine East of Rancagua, Mina Juanita.

Leaving Santiago on a perfect saturday morning to head South.

Checking-in at the park with the local police. They kept our ID's and handed them back at the end.

We'd seen some serious trail up to this point and lost a few of the posers. Still composed of a 660 Tenere, 2 Super Tenere's, a 990R and a 990 plus myself. These guys are serious, and not afraid to get their bikes scratched. We came to an area of loose repair on a rockslide coupled with the gradient which caused a 'stopper'. The Erzberg made it up but it wasn't pretty! Goti made it up with his 990 but was terrified about his side stand. The others accepted defeat on the grounds of the damage risk so we had the added fun of careering back down for a conflab. We were just about to mount up and head back down when a CAT backhoe appeared at the top of the 'stopper'!

Is this good or bad??? I might have to go back up and my legs aren't long enough for a decent dab.

Sure enough 4 of us decided to give it a go (again) and reach the mine, so up we went.

That's a good work-out I've had now and I have a few mods and some maintenance to do, plus have a look at suspension settings then I'd be happy to take to the road.

Is it the right bike for me? Oh Yessssssssssss!

A big thanks to Cheque and Jaime.
