Tom Tom for DS

Friends spouse bought him a Tom Tom for their weekend get away trips.

Looks to be a nice piece (costly but nice)

Any thoughts on DS use?

Thanks

Useless if you want to do any mapping i.e. recording where you've gone. Although it is kind of cute looking.

Garmin's upcoming Zumo looks to be a more promising unit. Initial information seems to indicate it can do mapping.

Check to see if it's waterproof.

I think that they both are or will be waterproof, but the real question in this case is off road track handling. Even the the new Garmin Candidate has a small track log and no mention of the the ability to do a track back "Get my ass outahere" function like the other Garmin's.

I think it is best to let Garmin know that the DS capabilities most of you guys want to work with track logs and other map databases is very important and then see what they actually roll out.

Thought I better amend my earlier statement. It's only useless out of the box. There has been a lot more development on the linux opensource aspect. See here for a tracking option for the TT Rider:
