Not a very clear picture (no fancy camera here) but thats me puttering around by the mississippi river. I'm starting to see why everyone is so hardcore about this

Not much, but it's the first time I've been offroad on a big bike, so I wanted to take it easy. The camera doesn't really show it, but the whole trail is wet gravel, the sun only dries off the surface rocks in the clear areas. Most of it was shaded by trees, and I did NOT want to dump a 450lb bike trying something stupid.

Somebody has to explain to me why everyone thinks the Beemers are better looking than a Strom...

'cause I don't see it.

That thing looks like a platypus, and not in a good way.

Especially compared the the refined lines of the Vee & Wee.

I sure do like the knobbies on stroms... if my daily ride wasnt 100miles of interstate/ 130 miles of interstate and backroads.... I would get some too.... maybe if i plan a good ride somewhere good...

I like the looks of them both. I would own either in a heartbeat. What would/ did make me choose between the two were price, maintenance, reliability.... from what i understand the stroms win in all of those categories.

I think the front of the strom could use a little work, and definately a different rear fender thingy....

World Class First Ever

AKHAL turned me on to his lottery pass to access Denali National Park today...I spoke with a few Rangers and they agreed they had never seen a civilian on a motorcycle ride the park. It was a spectacular day. Hope to get a ride report done later this week. So, I know a Vstrom has never been this far in the Park....the POD was on a mission!

Trip report can be found here...

Here's my strom on it's maiden voyage:
Name: rte70iii.jpg
Views: 7641
Size: 71.0 KB

This road is coming in from Prescott National Forest and going the long way in to Sedona via Jerome. Pretty easy-going offroad but with my experience level on dirt, it was pretty hairy at times. Of course, I'll never forget that trip.
