Revisiting FR 41 & 42 Washington's Cascades / May 2007

Finally got some time off and good weather. The route was Sunset Falls

campground, FR 41 past Mowich Butte, on to FR 41 to Stabler on Wind River Highway. Outstanding off road, outstanding V Strom

High ground near Mowich.

The junction of FR 42 and FR 41

Total challenges = Three deep, four shallow water bars from snowmelt and six negotiable downed fir trees. Not to shabby.

My 1st trip off road on the Vee

While not as exciting as some of the other pictures taken off road, here is a pic of my 07 Vee. I just bought this bike new 2 weeks ago today. Last Saturday I decided to see how well the Vee did off road (after all Suzuki does call it a Dual Sport). This picture was taken in the management area of Little River canyon. While definitely not a dirt bike (which I already have 2 of) it did well enough on these fairly easy trails as long as you take it easy and select your line carefully. Definitely not afraid to try it out again in the future.

As I look back through the decades, theres a thought that prevails. We are born without a road map and a choice of many trails...........

Back again in 2008!

Since it's inception, I've really enjoyed looking through this thread. My choice to buy the big Strom came in large part to seeing this thread, specifically southforkspeedster's bike (and the interesting shots he shared of it).

That being said, it would be nice to resurrect this thread and get some new/updated additions.

Though paling in comparison to what's already been posted, I have 2 to share. They were both taken by fellow ADV'er gagnaou, in his pasture (he has a path wandering a big chunk of his acreage), so photo credits are his. It was the first time I had really experimented with the Strom off road, playing with the throttle, spinning the rear tire a little, always knowing there were 2 other manly men around to help me pick it back up. Thankfully I never laid it down. Shortly after practicing in Luc's pasture we went on a enjoyable ride along some gravel backroads. My confidence was high after this practice session (and still is months later - thanks guys!).

Anyway, enough blabbing, on with the pics:

I'm giong faster than it looks. Really.

Yes, that's a pretty big smile underneath that helmet.

Anyone else???
