Question, what difference would it make on a thumper? Obvious big difference on V8. The big difference on a single with big variations in venturi velocity seams to me to be timed vs. continuous. -J

digital instrument failure

Hi guys...06 610TE. Instrument panel would go blank. Shut bike off, turned on instruments then OK. Today...part of display worked for a minute then nothing at all...no display, no warning lights, no turn signal lights, etc. I've got the bike cleaned up and will get into it in the next day or so but y'all have any suggestions? The way it looked appeared to be the instrument head failure and now a power/ground issue.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Doug

I would disconnect the battery for a minute and then reconnect. This seems to reboot the system. I have had to do it once since I had the bike 8 months. Also make sure the wiring harness large plug on the back f the dash board is fully seated. The wiring harness on these bikes is on the short side and tends to stress the connectors.

Does anyone have a pic of the natural IMS tank on a 2007 TE610?

My '08 610. I picked it up today. I don't have many miles on it yet, but what I do have I love!! Its going to be in the mid 50's this weekend soooooo I should be able to do my first oil change (50 miles or so) with out any trouble. Did I say I love this bike.

It looks good next to the 525.

Some things I want to do right away.

1. Fastways/Lowboy pegs. (I'm 6' 3") I don't like rubber on my pegs.
2. Hand guards
3. Black power coat heat shild. We have a power system where I work.
4. Rear rack.
5. Bash plate
Thanks to Dan for starting the index thread its a huge help.

Hey Pat,
Welcome to the group ,
Really glad you are happy with the bike. I think the 08' bike
is great looking with the Black, and expect we will have quite
a few new owners join us this year ...

How do they run?

To the lucky few who have ridden the 08 610's, How do they run with the FI, will we have to be looking for a power up kit like the 450 and 510 guys?

I know you guys are just breaking them in but just curious as my 610 is supposed to be here in the next couple of weeks.

On a thumper I would expect the port injection difference to be greater than a V-8. For a V-8 flow through a throttle body is nearly continuous, on a thumper highly intermittent.

With throttle body injection droplets stranded in the intake track between strokes are going to drop out, plus direct injection puts about 6% more air in the chamber since you aren’t pulling in vaporized fuel.

Still I though these things were throttle body injection. Are they really port injection?

Doesn't the rubber just pop out? It does on my '06 SM 610.

Dan, The 908 RR's are what I use exclusively on my 950. They are the best in my opinion. Long lasting and and aggressive. They will be the next tires my 610 gets and will be my choice for this years trip with it.

Those pegs are still not great. Either get aftermarkets or install a set from a TE510. Much better imo.
