The Billy Joel song is "You May Be Right."

Well, back in the 1971 there was an entire LP record devoted to motorcycles recorded in Muscle Shores Alabama. Titled "Motorcycle Mama "by Sailcat (Court Pikett and John Wyler). With classic bike songs like "Rainbox Road", "Highway Rider", "If you've got a daughter" and, of course, "Motorcycle Mama". Great LP, I suggest you track it down. It is great fun!

Has anyone mentioned Arlo Guthrie's The Motorcycle Song?

Page 3 and no mention of Iron Horse by Motorhead?

Ol'55 by Tom Waits is another personal fave.

The Who-Goin' Mobile -techically about a van but the sentiment's all there.

Geez,
You guys are showing your age…come on “Queen”, “Meatloaf”, “Born to be wild???
Step out of the 70’s and join me for some cool beats...

Check these tunes out:

“Satin is my motor” – by Cake
“Motorcycle drive by” - by Third Eye Blind
“Blue highway” - by Billy Idol
“The road to Ensanada” by Lyle Lovett

and if you feel you must look back to your youth…
Stick with Bob Seger
“Roll me away” and Travelin’ Man”

An honourable mention for Jasper Carrott's 1975 classic "Funky Moped"
(Jasper Carrott would be England's answer to Elvis were it not for the fact that he has a face like a burglar's dog licking piss off a nettle and he can't sing)

The lights were groovy colours,
The band was playin' slow,
We danced just one dance together,
Then she said...
I've Gotta Go Now.

I brushed away a tear drop,
And followed her outside,
Where a long haired yob on a cycle was waiting to gi'e her a ride,
I'll never forget, that freak she went with,
Tell him he'd better leave town,
Cos as soon as me moped's front mud guard is fixed,
Gonna find the creep and put him down.
(Down Down)

When I get me moped out on the road I'm gonna ride ride ride,
When I get me moped out on the road I'm gonna ride ride ride,
When I get me moped out on the road, aint nobody gonna tell mee where to go no
When I get me moped out on the road I'm gonna ride ride ride.
(Funky Moped)

[Chorus]
Blue Funky Moped,
Blue Funky Moped,
Blue Funky Moped,
Blue Funky Moped,

Move move move move move funky moped go.
(Funky Moped)

When I'm on me moped rockin' and a sockin' I'll ride ride ride,
When I'm on me moped rockin' and a sockin' I'll ride ride ride,
When I'm on me moped rockin' and a sockin', everywhere I go the chicks are movin and a groovin,

My all-time favorite motorcycle tune is Desert Plains by Judas Priest.

Red Barchetta and Highway Star are about cars, not motorcycles. I don't think bikes are mentioned in either of those two.

Don't forget Cake's "Going the Distance" and "Rock & Roll Lifestyle"...

"...how much did you pay for your bad Moto Guzzi ?..."

A little band called Hope Orchestra has done two:

"Kick it Over" is pretty good.
"Moonlight Jaunt" is okay, but definitely about bikes.

Yeah, Motorcycle Momma by Sailcat I have the Album from 1973 (?). It was intended as a 'Rock Opera" and the songs tell a story of a motorcycle bum who falls in love with a "little rich girl". Fun music, fun artwork in the Album cover. A real piece of unappreciated/forgotten motorcycle lore from the heyday of the American motorcycle boom. "You'll be the Queen of my Highway, A Motorcycle Momma, and we'll see the world from my Harley ------ IF the chain don't break !!! "
