Jeremy Kay "Once Knew You" D2G Soundtrack!!!

"As long as I am riding
I know that I am alive"

I knew I had to have this song in my collection when I saw Dust To Glory the first time and this song was playing when Mouse McCoy crossed the finish line.

"In the darkness
only you and me..
all my thoughts have turned from dust to glory"

New song from Five For Fighting

Johnny America by Five For Fighting

Show me a better bike than the one I got
If it makes any difference you can keep the lot
There's plenty of space in the parking lot

A head full of hopes
A pocket full of dreams
Handle bars coming apart at the seams

There goes Johnny America
Riding Hard up Mission Hill
Some think he'll make it to the top today
Some say he never will
Though he's just a child at heart
He's old enough to fall
Nobody in 100 years
Can touch him faults and all...

What you going to say about my little man
Take another shot, do the best you can
They're selling out souls in the grandstand

His Cap peeled back
Got Blood on his knees
Fighting back tears
Tearing through the breeze

There goes Johnny America
Riding Hard up Mission Hill
Some think he'll make it to the top today
Some say he never will
Though he's just a child at heart
He's old enough to fall
Nobody in 100 years
Can touch him faults and all...

He's come to far to fall

There goes Johnny America
Riding Hard up Mission Hill
Some think he'll make it to the top today
Some say he never will...

GO!
Go Johnny!
Go Johnny!

There goes Johnny America
Riding Hard up Mission Hill
Some think he'll make it to the top today
I say he will.

David Wilcox, "Eye of the Hurricane" (a bit of a downer, though)

Edit: whoops, that'll teach me, I was scooped on this 4 years ago. To make up for it, I'll offer:

Chris Isaak "Gone Ridin'"
Not specifically MC related, used with bicycles in the movie "American Flyers," but a good driving rhythm.

Songs that twist the thottle

Don't stop the wheels-Doobie Brothers-Minute by Minute Album
Sceaming Night Hog- Steppenwolf John Kay always wondered why that one wasn't as popular with bikers. Magic Carpet Ride works for me.
Didn't Foghat have a song called Ride? Drivin Wheel? Somethin like that. Theme from "Dust to Glory" movie?
Didn't Jan and Dean do "Little Honda" before the Beach Boys?
Would I Lie To You- Eurythmics has a GPZ750 Turbo reving in the back ground and in the Video.

Good call.

How about this one from David Dundas? "You and me, we'll go motorbike riding in the sun and the wind and the rain..."

The Bangles "Walk Like an Egyptian" refers to 'the Yamaha-di boys'.

Lots of songs, that have absolutely nothing, to do with motorcycles. Sky diving, chainsaws, the Doors????

Bit of ole Cowboy Poetry

Heard this done by Don Edwards and Waddie Mitchell. they switched back and forth between a song and a poem, but it is my favorite 'heading out for a ride' song -
Commutin'/Ridin'

Ridin'
There's some that like the city grass
thats curried smooth and green
Theaters, strangling collars,
wagons run by gasoline

But for me its horse and saddle
every day without a change
The desert sun's a blazing
on a hundred miles of range

Just a ridin', a ridin',
desert rippling in the sun
Mountains blue along the skyline,
who can envy anyone When I'm ridin'

Commutin'
There aint nothing like the feeling
that you get down deep inside
As you trot out in the morning
when ya've hired out to ride

And your mount is enthusiastic
and the air is crisp and new
And there's lively conversation
going on amongst the crew

There's some bridle crickets chirping,
jingle bobs tap out a tune
On one side the sun is rising
just ahead there sets the moon

Shadows high trot there beside you
elongated keeping pace
Reassuring you aint hobbled
by restrictive time or space

Out in front the boss is posting
to the same beat as his song
Its then the realization hits you,
you're right were you belong

Ridin'
Now my feet is in the stirrups
and my horse is on the bust
His hooves a flashing lightening
to a golden cloud of dust

And the bawling of the cattle
is coming down the wind
Then a finer life then ridin'
would be mighty hard to find

Just a ridin', a ridin',
spliting long cracks in the air
Stiring up a baby cyclone,
ripping up the prickly pear When I'm ridin'

Commutin'
Its then you start appreciating
your on trails where few have trod
And you wonder how you doubted
if there really is a god

On top a ridge the boss reigns in,
so we gather up 'round
Its from here he'll call the circle
so you step off to the ground

You loosen up the latigo,
you air your pony's back
You 'range agin the blankets,
and you realign your cack

You mount back up to get dropped off,
check to see who's on each side
You're glad that your a cowboy
and you feel a twinge of pride

Ridin'
Well I need no art exhibit
when the sunset does her best
Painting ever lastin' glory
on the mountains to the west

And your oprey looks so foolish
when the night bird's start his tune
When the desert's silver mounted
by the touches of the moon

Just a ridin', a ridin',
who could envy kings and czars
When the coyotes down the valley
are a singing to the stars While I'm ridin'

Commutin'
You ate breakfast by the colman,
hurried 'round to beat the sun
You've eleven miles behind you
but its here the works begun

Downtown when folks must travel
to their workplace every day
Its said that their commutin'
to their job to earn their pay

They choke in crazy traffic jams,
fight for seats on bus or train
Its a wonder that this ritual
doesn't drive them all insane

We too I guess commute to work
as the job at hand dictates
But we commune while we're commutin'
what a difference that makes

Ridin'
When my earthly trail has ended
and my final bacon cured
The last great round up finished
at the home ranch of the world

I don't want no harps or halos
or other dressed up things
I'll ride the starry ranges
on a pinto horse with wings

Just a ridin', a ridin'
nothing I like half so well
As a rounding up the sinners
that have wandered out of hell Well I'm ridin'

Just a ridin', a ridin',
desert rippling in the sun
Mountains blue along the skyline
who can envy anyone when I'm ridin'

There are parts of this that resonate in my head every time a fork my bike 'casue we commune while we're commutin', what a difference that makes.

My favorite one of all time on Marilyn Manson's first album, "Portrait of an American Family" the last song, I think it's track 13:

The man in the front got a sinister grin, careen down highway 666
We wanna go, crush the slow, as the pitchfork bends the
needles grow
My arms are wheels, my legs are wheels, my blood is pavement
We're gonna ride to the abbey of the Thelema, to the abbey of the
Thelema
Blood is pavement
The grill in the front is my sinister grin, bugs in my teeth make
me sick sick sick
The objects may be larger than they appear in the mirror
My arms are wheels, my legs are wheels, my blood is pavement

We're gonna ride to the abbey of Thelema, to the abbey of Thelema
Blood is pavement
When you ride you're ridden, when you ride you're ridden
I am fueled by filth and fury
Do what I will, I will hurry there, there
My arms are wheels, my legs are wheels, my blood is pavement

Blood is pavement

The song is called, "Misery Machine"
